Israel’s army said on Saturday that they found the body of a 47-year-old farmer who was kept captive in Gaza. Negotiators are getting ready to start talking again to try to make a truce and free the other hostages. This has been going on for six months since the war started.
Israel’s military found the body of Elad Katzir and thinks he was killed by fighters from Islamic Jihad, one of the groups that came into southern Israel in October. 7 attacks, killed over 1,200 people, and held about 250 people as hostages. Katzir was taken from Nir Oz, a community near the border that was hit hard.
The finding put more pressure on Israel’s government to make a deal and free the rest of the hostages. Families are worried that time is running out. At least 36 people who were held as captives have been confirmed to have died. About half of the original number of hostages have been set free.
“If a deal had happened in time, he could have been saved,” said Katzir’s sister Carmit in a statement. “Our leader is afraid and only thinks about politics, that’s why (a deal) didn’t happen. ”
Some Israelis disagree with the way Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government are handling the ceasefire negotiations, which have not been successful so far. Last week, many Israelis gathered in central Jerusalem for a big protest against the government, which was the largest protest since the war started.
In Gaza, many people have been killed and over a million Palestinians have been forced from their homes because of Israel’s attack.

The talks to stop fighting will start again on Sunday, as per an Egyptian official and Egypt’s state-owned Al Qahera TV. The official spoke without giving their name because they were not allowed to talk about the negotiations in public.
The US President Joe Biden has asked CIA Director Bill Burns to go to Egypt and have more discussions about the people who are being held captive, stopping the fighting, and making sure the border between Egypt and Gaza is safe.
A group from Hamas will come on Sunday to join the talks, said the militant group.
Hamas says they won’t agree to end the war in stages unless hostages are released. It said it will release 40 people as part of a 6-week ceasefire deal, and also release Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails. Hamas wants the people who had to leave their homes in northern Gaza to come back, and they want more help. Israel said they would let 2,000 people come back each day for six weeks, but only women, children, and older people.

The toll doesn’t care if people are civilians or soldiers. But it has said that most of the dead are women and children.
The ministry said 46 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes and their bodies were brought to hospitals in the past day. This is the lowest number of deaths in months.
Israel says that Hamas is responsible for the deaths of civilians in Gaza. They say that Hamas is working in areas where civilians live and in places like hospitals.
The UN said it was able to get into Gaza’s biggest hospital, Shifa, after an Israeli attack, and the head of the World Health Organization called it “completely destroyed” with most of the buildings ruined. The WHO found many shallow graves and bodies that were only partly buried outside the emergency department after the Israeli siege.
The hospital in southern Gaza, Nasser, was destroyed and it has made the already struggling health system even worse, according to the WHO.
