The Israeli army says that the unexpected planned attack by Hamas on Saturday reminds them of the September 2001 attack on the United States.
“This is like our own version of the 9/11 tragedy – they have harmed us,” says a representative, while another person compares it to the 1941 Pearl Harbor attack.
Israel says they have taken back control of their communities near Gaza, but there are still some militants who are still active.
Over 700 people have died in Israel since Hamas started their attacks on Saturday, with 260 of them being at a music event.
The Israeli government said that over 100 Israelis have been “kidnapped” in the attacks. It is believed that most of them have been taken to Gaza.
Almost 500 people in Gaza have lost their lives because Israel attacked back with large airstrikes.
Israel says that there are air raid sirens going off in Jerusalem and other parts of the country because rockets are being launched from Gaza.
Israel’s Defence Minister Yoav Gallant has made a decision to enforce a “complete siege” on the Gaza Strip. This means that they will deny access to electricity, food, and fuel in that area.
Just as a reminder – Israel has authority over the airspace above Gaza and its shores, and it decides who and what can come in or go out through its border crossings.
Egypt has power over who can enter and leave its border with Gaza.
