Iran and Israel’s covert conflict exposed

Iran did something new and different by directly attacking Israel on Sunday. This is a change from what they usually do, which is to use other groups to fight for them in the Middle East. This change happened after the war between Israel and Hamas started in October. Now everyone is waiting to see if Israel will do more fighting, while the United States wants to use peace talks to make the situation in the region calmer.

Iran says they attacked in retaliation for an airstrike that they believe Israel did. The airstrike destroyed what Iran claims were consular offices in Syria and killed two generals from Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard. This happened earlier this month.

Israel said that their defense system, supported by the US and Britain, was able to shoot down almost all of the 300 drones and missiles launched by Iran last night. A girl in southern Israel got hurt and a missile hit an Israeli airbase, but it didn’t cause much damage.

However, the leader of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said that the mission was a success.

According to Mona Yacoubian, Iran has been able to find a way to respond to the attack in Damascus without making the situation worse with Israel. This could help prevent a bigger conflict from happening.

Yacoubian said that both Iran and Israel can say they won and back down from fighting, especially because no Israeli civilians were killed.

The whole world was still waiting to find out what happened at a meeting of top Israeli leaders on Sunday. Some people in Israel want to act tough, but others think they should be careful and focus on building good relationships with Arab countries.

“We are going to team up with neighboring countries and make Iran pay for what they’ve done, on our terms and when we decide. ” said Benny Gantz, a member of the War Cabinet.

Experts believe that Iran has shown it is ready to increase the intensity of its conflict with Israel and might change how it fights.

“It’s a message to Israel that if they don’t follow the rules, there will be consequences,” said Magnus Ranstorp, who works at the Swedish Defense University.

Iran’s attack has increased worries about the war in Gaza causing problems in the region.

Iran says it doesn’t want a big war in the region. Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian said on social media that Iran does not plan to keep defending itself unless it is attacked.

Iran said it only attacked places in Damascus that were connected to Israel, not regular people or places where money is made.

When Israel started attacking Hamas in Gaza, groups supported by Iran joined in the fighting, but Iran did not take part directly. Hezbollah, a group from Lebanon, shot rockets into the northern part of Israel. Yemen’s Houthi rebels attacked ships from the West on the Red Sea. A group of militia from Iraq, supported by Iran, attacked the U. SSoldier jobs in Iraq and Syria.

Tehran is now ready to increase its efforts without using other groups, said Maha Yahya, director of the Carnegie Middle East Center.

However, Iran only made a limited effort.

“They warned us this was going to happen, and I think they knew their drones and missiles would be stopped before they could reach Israel,” Yahya said.

She also said that the recent increase in pressure on Israel for its actions in Gaza has now changed to trying to reduce tensions in the region.

Yacoubian believes Washington needs to act to stop things from getting worse.

Eldad Shavit, who leads the Israel-US alliance, said that Israel’s allies, including the United States, do not support more military action. Study program at an Israeli organization called the Institute for National Security Studies.

John Kirby, a spokesperson for national security at the White House, told NBC that President Joe Biden does not want the fighting in the region to get worse or for there to be a bigger war with Iran. He is personally working on finding a peaceful solution through diplomacy.

The G7, which includes countries like the United States, United Kingdom, and France, and the UN Security Council, had important meetings on Sunday.

All the people at the G7 meeting agreed that they strongly disagree with Iran’s attack. They are prepared to take more action if Iran continues to do things that make the situation worse.
