Yemeni missile fire intercepted by US Navy warship

US officials say that a US Navy warship intercepted missiles and drones launched from Yemen by the Iran-aligned Houthi movement.

A spokesperson from the Pentagon said that the missiles have been fired possibly towards places in Israel.

The USS Carney, which is a ship that shoots missiles and can be controlled, was in the northern Red Sea on Thursday.

US soldiers in Iraq and Syria were recently attacked multiple times, according to the Pentagon.

Washington is paying close attention in case Iran-supported groups take action while Israel keeps attacking Hamas targets in Gaza.

The Pentagon’s General Patrick Ryder said that they shot down three missiles and some drones that were coming from Yemen to attack the land.

No one got hurt in the event, and an official from the United States said it didn’t seem like the warship was the intended target.

“He told reporters that we don’t know for sure what these missiles and drones were aiming for, but they were launched from Yemen and heading north along the Red Sea, possibly towards targets in Israel. ”

Brig Ryder said that they are still figuring out the details of the activity and the attack might still be happening.

He said that we responded defensively to a threat in the region where we are able to, to protect our people and partners.

According to the Pentagon, in Iraq, attacks were carried out on several military bases where US and other international forces are stationed using drones and rockets.

One attack hurt only a few soldiers.

Militant groups in Iraq cautioned the US about supporting Israel’s actions against Hamas in Gaza.

On Wednesday, a small flying robot hit American military personnel in Syria, causing only small injuries. Additionally, another small flying robot was successfully taken down.

While I can’t predict what will happen in response to these attacks, I can assure you that we will do everything we can to protect the United States. Brig Ryder said that they will unite with coalition forces to protect against any danger.

In the Middle East, there are different American military locations like bases, where there are warships, soldiers, and fighter planes.

During the last week, the United States has sent two big military ships called aircraft carriers, around 2,000 soldiers who are called marines, and other ships that provide help to the Middle East.

The White House says they have no plans or intentions to use them.

But it means that if necessary, the US military would be ready to protect the country’s security interests.

Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who the US believes are responsible for these latest attacks, receive support from Iran.

The Houthis have been involved in a long-lasting conflict with the official government of Yemen, which is supported by Saudi Arabia, since 2014.

The US military leader called Gen Ryder, who works at The Pentagon, said that they are still studying and trying to understand the attacks that happened in Yemen, Iraq, and Syria.

He said that our main goal is to prevent a larger conflict in the region. He also mentioned that there is no evidence linking the recent attacks by Hamas in Israel to any other events happening right now.
