A woman from South Carolina wants hair dryers to have more safety features after she lost her hand in an accident while using one.
Mary Wilson was preparing to use a hairdryer on February. 7 when she suddenly passed out. She told the media that the last thing she remembers is going to the bathroom with her blow dryer to dry her hair.
As she was knocked out for about 20 minutes, the hot air from the blow dryer burned her hand and caused serious nerve damage. Her friend found her and she was taken quickly to the hospital.
She remembered that the burns on her hand were very serious and went all the way to the bone. Wilson had her hand and wrist cut off because of her injuries.
Wilson wants hair dryers to have a feature that makes them turn off by themselves, just like some flat irons do.
Although Wilson, who grooms dogs, has gone through a big change in his life, he is staying happy and hopeful.
“I will continue to enjoy life as much as I can. ” It’s only a hand. What is this, 10 percent of my body. Losing my hand may change me, but it doesn’t make me who I am.
