A woman suffered a fatal accident at her birthday party when her hair got caught in a go-kart.
Arini Mohamed Adinan’s was running a race with her friends Karmeli, Zeth, and Julie at a track near Singapore in Indonesia’s Riau Islands on February 21 on her 33rd birthday when her helmet came off after her vehicle crashed into the tyre barrier, according to a witness.
Arini, who is said to come from Singapore, was taken to the hospital very quickly, but she was declared dead upon arrival.
A person at the scene said the woman’s hair was very long and got caught in the back wheel. She couldn’t stop her own kart after seeing the accident she added.
She said: “I had to crash the kart into the tire barrier to make it stop, but the engine was still on. ” Julie said the group helped each other put on their helmets, and Karmeli added that she also wore a hair net.
Arini was laid to rest on her birthday at a cemetery next to the Pusara Aman Mosque in Singapore. Over 100 people came to her funeral, including friends and family.
Zahwani Pandra Arsyad, a spokesperson for the police, said that people saw the victim driving a go-kart with the number 14 for two laps around the track.
In August 2021, a 15-year-old girl named Ruwaida Adan died when her headscarf got stuck in her go-kart at a racing track in London.
The jury said she died because she didn’t get enough oxygen to her brain and couldn’t breathe.
