Trump makes not-guilty plea in Georgia election meddling case

Former President Donald Trump said he did not do anything wrong in the Georgia election interference case. He also decided not to go to the court hearing where the charges against him were explained.

The ex-president and 18 other people were accused this month of working together to change the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. They are facing charges of racketeering.

Ex-President Donald Trump talks to his supporters at a Farmers for Trump campaign event in Council Bluffs, Iowa on July 7, 2023.

Trump said that what he did was not against the law and that the investigation is driven by political reasons.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee has decided that the date of September will be chosen for an event. All 19 people will go to court to hear the charges against them and say if they are guilty or not guilty.

Other people who are accused — like publicist Trevian Kutti, Georgia attorney Ray Smith III, and former Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell — have also said they are not guilty to avoid going to court.
