Tanzanian president mourns victims in road accident in central Tanzania

Tanzanian President John Magufuli on Monday mourned victims killed in a road accident in central Tanzania in the morning.

A statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communication at State House in Chato, northwest Tanzania, said Magufuli sent a condolence message to Said Salim Bakhresa, the owner and chief executive officer of Azam Media Group.

“The president has been shocked by the sudden deaths of the five employees of the television station and two other people,” said the statement.

The statement said the victims were traveling from the business capital Dar es Salaam to Chato for live coverage of President Magufuli’s inauguration of a new national park called Burigi-Chato on July 9.

The statement said the seven people were killed after their minibus collided head on with a lorry at Shelui in the central region of Singida.
