Royal Bank of Canada fired its chief financial officer Nadine Ahn after looking into her personal relationship with another employee.
On Friday evening, RBC said they heard about accusations against Ahn and started looking into it. They also got legal advice to help with their investigation.
The investigation showed that Ahn was in a secret relationship with a coworker who got special treatment like promotions and more money. This goes against the bank’s rules.
Ahn and the other employee were both fired after the review.
RBC says after looking into it, they found no proof that either person did anything that would affect the bank’s financial statements, plans, or how well the bank is doing.
Katherine Gibson, previously RBC’s finance and controller leader, has been chosen as the temporary chief financial officer. This will be in effect until a new permanent successor is found.
