Prisoner Alex Murdaugh denied phone access after media call

Alex Murdaugh, a lawyer from South Carolina who is serving a life sentence for murder, is no longer allowed to use his phone in prison because he talked to the media without permission.

Prison officials said that the lawyer of a person who is 55 years old recorded him reading his diary entries during a phone call in June.

It is said that the recording was later given to the makers of an upcoming documentary on Fox Nation about his situation.

Murdaugh was found guilty in March of murdering his wife and younger son.

A spokesperson for South Carolina state prisons explained that people harmed by a crime should not have to see or hear the person who harmed them or their family member on the news.

Murdaugh broke two prison rules and got in trouble at a meeting this week.

He will not be able to use his phone, tablet, or buy things from the prison store for a month.

The department will decide if and when inmate Murdaugh can have a tablet again.

Murdaugh is being investigated because his staff found out that a phone call with his lawyer was used by the media.

His phone was taken away while they were investigating, but he supposedly borrowed someone else’s phone to make a call.

Murdaugh’s wife, Maggie, who is 52 years old, and their son Paul, who is 22 years old, were shot from a close distance on their family property on June 7, 2021. The prosecutors said he killed them to distract people from his money crimes and get people to feel sorry for him.

The famous legal family in South Carolina was involved in a big court case that caught the attention of the entire United States. Murdaugh received a punishment of life in prison with no chance of release.

According to court records, he is likely to admit that he took millions of dollars from his clients and he will appear in federal court next month to do so.
