Mohamed al-Fayed dies at 94

Billionaire entrepreneur Mohamed al-Fayed the assertive Egyptian magnate, who significantly altered the destinies of two prominent London establishments, Harrods department store and Fulham Football Club, and engaged in a heated verbal exchange with members of the British royal family following his son’s tragic car accident alongside Princess Diana, has passed away at the age of 94, as confirmed in a statement issued by his family.

The family of Mohamed al-Fayed, the flamboyant billionaire born in Egypt whose son tragically perished alongside Princess Diana in a car accident, has announced his passing at the age of 94.

Al-Fayed, renowned as the former proprietor of London’s Harrods department store and the previous owner of Fulham Football Club, was profoundly affected by the loss of his son, Dodi Fayed, in the 1997 car crash in Paris that also claimed the life of Princess Diana.

He spent years mourning the loss and fighting the UK establishment he blamed for their deaths.

“Mrs Mohamed al-Fayed, her children and grandchildren wish to confirm that her beloved husband, their father and their grandfather, Mohamed, has passed away peacefully of old age on Wednesday August 30, 2023,″ his family said in a statement released by the Fulham Football Club on Friday.

“He enjoyed a long and fulfilled retirement surrounded by his loved ones. The family have asked for their privacy to be respected at this time,” the family said.

Al-Fayed firmly believed that Dodi and Diana fell victim to a conspiracy orchestrated by Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II.
