Yesterday at 3:25 pm, the large vehicle drove off the road.
Emergency services arrived quickly, but a guy in his 50s was declared dead there despite paramedics’ best attempts.
The coroner will receive a file that has been compiled once his next of kin have been notified.
No other injuries were reported, police said.
Photos from the scene show the artic lorry lodged between a fence and one of the homes at Jarrah Cottages on London Road.
Essex Police said in a statement: ‘Officers investigating a serious collision in Purfleet are appealing for witnesses and dash cam footage.
‘We were called to Jarrah Cottages, London Road, shortly before 3.25pm on Friday 10 March following reports of a serious collision in which an artic lorry left the road and was in collision with several properties.
‘The road was closed whilst police and colleagues from ambulance and fire emergency services dealt.’
Thurrock Council have offered support to those affected.
