A man from Texas got caught by the police because he got on a Delta Air Lines flight in Salt Lake City without a ticket. He used a picture he took of someone else’s boarding pass when they weren’t paying attention. This information is from the court documents.
Wicliff Yves Fleurizard, 26, is accused of sneaking onto a boat or plane and is scheduled to appear in court in Utah.
Before the airplane left Salt Lake City International Airport, security cameras recorded Fleurizard taking pictures of people’s phones and boarding passes without them knowing. He then used his own phone to get on the flight to Austin, Texas, according to the complaint.
Once on the airplane, Fleurizard went to the bathroom at the front of the plane and stayed there for a long time while other passengers were getting on.
“After everyone got on the plane and the doors were almost closed, Fleurizard came out of the bathroom in the front of the plane and went to the back to use the bathroom there,” the complaint said.
When he finished in the bathroom, a flight attendant saw there were no empty seats. The flight attendant went to help Fleurizard. The complaint said the plane had already left the gate and was moving on the runway.
Fleurizard told the airplane worker his seat was 21F, but they found out the person who bought the ticket for that seat was already sitting there.
The airplane went back to the gate and the police met Fleurizard because he didn’t have a ticket or reservation.
Fleurizard told the police that he was in Park City, Utah for snowboarding and he wanted to go home to see his family. He said he had a ticket for a Southwest Airlines flight on Sunday, but the flight was full and he had to take a different flight later.
“Fleurizard said sorry for his mistake and just wanted to go home,” the complaint said.
Police told the media that he is being kept at Salt Lake County Metro Jail because of a federal detention order.
Delta Air Lines representative Morgan Durrant stated that the airline is working with the investigation.
âDelta is working with the police and government agencies to investigate a person who was taken off a plane in Salt Lake City before it was supposed to take off. “We will let the police handle any more questions,” Durrant said in a statement.
