Following the discovery of the deaths of a ‘funny and loving’ married couple inside a home, a man has been charged with two counts of murder.
On Friday night, Josh Bashford, 33, and Chloe, 30, were discovered dead at their house in Newhaven, a town some nine miles to the east of Brighton.
According to Sussex Police, officers responded to the home on Lewes Road at around 7 o’clock after receiving a murder report.
Two counts of murder have been brought against Derek Martin, 64, also known as Derek Glenn, of Moulsecoomb Way in Brighton.
He was known to the victims, who had four children together, county police said.
Martin has been remanded in custody and will appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today.

A post-mortem is scheduled to take place this week, police said on Saturday.
George Last, a niece of the couple, said the death of Josh and Chloe has left the family ‘heartbroken’.
‘The most funny and loving pair, you loved each other so much it was just amazing to see what true love looked like,’ she wrote on Facebook.
‘You were the most amazing parents to four beautiful, intelligent, and loving children.’
Stephen Glenn added: ‘Taken cruelly from us, far too young leaving four beautiful children behind.’
‘You were and will always be our baby sister, we will miss you dearly and you will be forever in our thoughts and prayers RIP,’ Stephen said.
Detective Chief Inspector Kimball Edey, of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, added: ‘Our thoughts remain with the families of the two victims at this extremely difficult time.
‘While our work to establish the exact circumstances of what happened are ongoing, we are not seeking anyone else in connection with the matter.
‘I’d like to thank the public for their understanding and remind them not to speculate or comment on anything which could jeopardise our investigation in the meantime.’
