A pensioner has been detained on murder suspicion after a senior citizen was discovered dead in her home.
Last Sunday, June 25, the 77-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene in Ealing, west London, and a special post-mortem revealed that she had died from a severe head injury.
A 74-year-old man was detained by police who were called to the residence after receiving complaints of worries for the woman’s welfare.
He was transported to the hospital, according to Scotland Yard, because of health concerns. Both the victim and the suspect were well-known to one another.
Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are carrying out further enquiries to establish the circumstances.
Detective Superintendent Rebecca Reeves said: ‘I know that local people will be shocked by this incident and additional foot patrols are being conducted to reassure the community.
