Libya flood victims require urgent funding – humanitarian organisation

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), a well-known humanitarian organization, has said that the situation in Libya is very bad or “disastrous”.

The storm called Daniel caused very bad flooding in the North African country. The cities of Benghazi and Derna were affected the most.

The person in charge of NRC in Libya, Dax Bennett Roque, says that the rescue team in Benghazi has found that many thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes and have nowhere to go.

The NRC says that because of many years of fighting in Libya, there are not enough resources available to handle a national emergency like this, which makes the disaster even worse.

Roque said that humanitarian aid groups in Libya have not been given enough money for a long time. Now is the moment to support the people and assist them in their journey towards healing. ”
