J.K. Rowling reported to police by trans broadcaster over “hate crime”

India Willoughby, the first transgender newsreader in Britain, has accused Rowling of committing a “hate crime” for the comments she made on X on Monday.

Rowling apologized to the police for making inappropriate remarks about transgender individuals. Rowling addressed the subjects she had discussed on social media with them.

Rowling said that it’s not a crime to have views about gender. She denied the accusation.

I spoke to the Northumbria police yesterday. I told someone about J.K Rowling talked to the police about something she said, Willoughby said in an interview with a news website called Byline Times, which was published on Wednesday.

Rowling says – is an act of violence. It invalidates their identity and can cause emotional harm. ” Using a trans person’s incorrect gender on purpose, even if they say they are a different gender than what they were assigned at birth, is hurtful and can cause emotional pain. This kind of behavior is like a form of violence because it dismisses their identity. Rowling claims.

My birth certificate says I am a woman, and all of my official papers and passport also classify me as a woman according to the law. This is important to J.K because it is how I am officially recognized. Rowling purposefully calling me the wrong gender, even though she knows the truth, is really hurtful and disrespectful.

The writer is stirring up debate about transgender issues and what it means to be a woman. Some transgender activists strongly disagree with the author, but some women’s rights advocates strongly agree with them.

“A while back, my lawyers told me that I could win a case against India Willoughby for saying bad things about me. They also said that India’s constant focus on me over the last few years might be considered harassment in the eyes of the law,” Rowling wrote on X.

Northumbria Police in Northern England said that on Monday, March 4, they got a complaint about something posted on social media by the Willoughby family. We are waiting to talk to the person who made the complaint again.
