Israel uncovers new tunnels under Gaza linked to Hamas leaders’ residences

Israel’s military has reported the discovery of a new network of tunnels in Gaza City, linked to the residences of senior Hamas leaders.

These tunnels, covering around 300 miles (500 kilometers) under Gaza, are believed to be up to 260 feet (80 meters) below the surface with entrances located on the bottom floors of houses and public buildings.

The Israel Defense Forces assert that these tunnels serve as hideouts for Hamas to plan operations against Israel.

Initially used for smuggling goods, the construction began before Israel’s withdrawal of troops and settlers in 2005.
