The search for a man who fell off a cruise ship near Kent’s coast has finished.
HM Coastguard was called at around 9:00 BST on Sunday because a crew member went missing from the German ship AIDAperla near Ramsgate.
They looked for the man for nine hours, but couldn’t find him. Then, the AIDAperla continued on its trip to Spain on Sunday night.
AIDA Cruises expressed sympathy for the family of the person who is missing and their coworkers.
It said that we are talking often with his family and the people on the AIDAperla boat.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said that the search, which used a helicopter and RNLI lifeboats, finished at around 6:00 PM BST on Sunday.
AIDA Cruises said that the ship was allowed to continue its journey towards La Coruña in Spain after searching for something in the dark.
The AIDAperla ship was going from Hamburg in Germany to Las Palmas in the Canary Islands when a man disappeared, according to AIDA Cruises.
A representative said: “The boat quickly stopped and went back to the area where the incident happened. They joined in the search for something. “
