Hamas-run health ministry: Death toll in Gaza approaching 16,000

The Gaza health ministry, run by Hamas, said that 15,899 people have died since Israel started its military campaign in response to the 7 October attacks.

349 people have died in Israeli attacks since they last told us on Sunday.

Hamas says that 70% of the people who died are women and children.

Israel wants to get rid of Hamas from the Gaza Strip because some Palestinian gunmen crossed into Israel, killed 1,200 people, and took 240 captive.

Over 100 people who were held captive were set free during a ceasefire that lasted for seven days. But the ceasefire ended last Friday.
