In a collision with a lorry that happened “when broken down” on a route in Lincolnshire, a woman and a kid perished.
When a white lorry headed west on the A180 struck a blue Ford Focus that was stopped, Humberside Police sped there.
At around 9 p.m. on Friday, the incident took place halfway between Stallingborough and Brocklesby.
In the Ford, which is thought to have broken down in a live lane of the carriageway, were a 34-year-old woman and a 3-year-old boy.
The two were in the collision and suffered severe injuries; they were declared dead at the site.
Their families have been informed and are currently being supported by specialist trained officers.
Witnesses believe their car was ‘stranded’ in the left hand lane at the time.
A woman told Grimsby Live she had to ‘swerve’ in the dark to avoid the car and called emergency services shortly before the crash.
Police are investigating the crash, and have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
A statement said: ‘We are appealing for anyone who may have dash cam footage or who witnessed the collision to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 557 of 10 March.’
