In response to the observation of a ‘unknown’ flying object in the sky, Russia has reopened its airspace around St. Petersburg.
Today, all aircraft at the 14-mile-south of the city center Pulkovo Airport were momentarily halted.
The device has reportedly been identified as a drone in social media reports, but this has not yet been verified.
All flights have been halted until noon local time, according to announcements made by the authorities on their official Telegram channel.

But no reason was provided for the sudden suspension, or an official comment on what caused the disruption.
Data from the Flight Radar website showed a number of domestic flights headed for St Petersburg turning back to their destinations.
The airspace between Moscow and St Petersburg appeared to be empty including all traffic to Kaliningrad.
According to online Russian news outlet Baza, fighter jets had been dispatched to investigate the UFO.
But flights have now resumed flying towards St Petersburg, the Flight Radar website showed.
