Efforts to promote harmony continue in Burhan, South Sudan

The leader of Sudan’s military has gone to South Sudan to talk with President Salva Kiir in the main city, Juba.

Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan is visiting because previous peace talks did not succeed in ending the four-and-a-half month war in his country.

Reporters were not allowed to attend the meeting, but based on a statement from President Kiir’s office, the two leaders talked about the problems in Sudan.

Sudan’s acting Foreign Minister, Ali al-Sadiq, said that people in Sudan think South Sudan would be the best country to help solve the conflict in Sudan. This is because we used to be one country and we understand each other, know the issues, and know what we need.

South Sudan’s Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Martin Elia Lomuro, stated that his country wants to find a solution to the crisis in Sudan because it is important for them.

Dr Lomuro said that President Kiir is the only person who knows a lot about Sudan and can solve the crisis happening there.

The United Nations refugee agency is asking for one billion dollars to help and protect many people who have run away to nearby countries.

The United Nations says that since the war started in April, about 4. 8 million people have been forced to leave their homes.
