In a tragic incident in Florida, two teenage brothers were arrested following the fatal shooting of their 23-year-old sister amid a dispute over Christmas presents.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, the young woman was shot in the chest by her 14-year-old brother while she was carrying her 10-month-old son.
The situation escalated when the older brother, aged 15, retaliated by shooting the younger sibling. The altercation reportedly stemmed from a disagreement regarding the distribution of Christmas presents.
Sheriff Bob Gualtieri stated that after the incident, the 15-year-old fled the scene, discarding his weapon along the way.
The 14-year-old brother was subsequently hospitalized in stable condition and is expected to be taken into police custody upon his release.
The incident has left the community in shock, highlighting a devastating outcome from a family dispute.
Local authorities are currently deliberating whether to try the younger brother as an adult for his sister’s murder, according to Sheriff Gualtieri.
The victim, a mother of two, was rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries. Sheriff Gualtieri noted that she suffered from internal bleeding and respiratory failure.
Fortunately, the baby she was carrying at the time was unharmed in the incident.
Meanwhile, the 15-year-old brother has been apprehended and faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and evidence tampering.
