Per police, a boy has died and another child has been quickly taken to the hospital because a car hit them.
Emergency services were asked to come to Stock Road in the village of Stock, Essex, a little bit after 8:20 am today because someone said a vehicle had crashed into two kids.
No matter how hard they tried, the boy died right where it happened.
The other child was taken to the hospital by helicopter for treatment, according to Essex Police.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested because the police suspect him of causing someone’s death by driving recklessly. They also believe that he caused serious injuries to someone else by driving recklessly and that he was either drunk or on drugs while driving.
He is currently being held by the police.
The kids go to Mayflower High School in Billericay, which is about one-and-a-half miles from here.
The principal, Damian Lee, sent a letter to parents on Friday saying that unfortunately, two of our students were in a car accident this morning.
Unfortunately, one student has died and the other student was taken to the hospital by helicopter.
The students’ families are getting help from a special team of police.
We told the staff and students in meetings and are collaborating with Essex County Council to figure out what kind of help is needed right now.
MrLee said that he knows this is a tough time for our students. He also said that he is thinking about and praying for the families who are involved.
Detective Inspector Mark Fraser, the person in charge of the investigation, stated: ‘This is a very sad event that will affect many people in the region, especially the families of the two young victims. ’
He asked people not to guess about what happened in the incident. He promised that the force will carefully investigate it.
DI Fraser also wants to thank everyone who has already talked to us. He wants to tell anyone with information who hasn’t talked to us yet to please come and talk to us.
The street is closed between School Lane and Honeypot Lane and will stay closed for a while because they are still investigating.
