Canada asks arms manufacturers about plans to increase ammunition manufacturing

The government is giving two gun companies a lot of money to figure out how to make more bullets in Canada. Bill Blair, who is in charge of protecting our country, told everyone at a meeting in Ottawa.

He says that $4. 4 million will go to IMT Defence and General Dynamics to make plans for making more 155 mm ammunition.

Last autumn, the deputy defense minister said to a group of lawmakers that the two companies thought it would cost $400 million to increase production.

There is not enough 155 mm ammunition available worldwide because of the war in Ukraine.

Some countries that work together with Canada have agreed to make more ammunition. They want to make sure Ukraine has enough ammunition to defend itself against Russia.
