A video that was posted on social media and examined by BBC Verify reveals a British tank that is in very poor condition.
A source from the military confirmed to BBC that the video shows a tank called Challenger 2 and that everyone inside the tank survived.
According to a former British tank commander named Hamish de Bretton Gordon, this is also the first time the tank has been attacked by the enemy.
The video shows smoke coming out of a vehicle. Ukrainian officials say that their forces have broken through the first line of defense of Russia in southern Ukraine.
BBC Verify has not given exact information about where or when the incident happened.
However, the video matches other footage that shows Ukrainian forces present in the area near the village of Robotyne, which was recently recaptured, located in the southeast of the country.
Earlier this year, Britain said it would send 14 Challenger 2 tanks to Ukraine. Tanks were given to Ukrainian tank drivers after they received training in March.
