Boy, 5 struck to death by bus Glasgow

In Glasgow, a five-year-old boy was killed when he was struck by a bus.

A nine-year-old girl is being treated in a hospital after the tragedy on Tuesday night.

On Calder Street in the city’s south, both kids were hit at around 5.40 o’clock.

First Bus has verified that one of their cars was in the accident.

Although they arrived quickly, the paramedics were unable to save the young kid, who passed away shortly after.

The young girl was taken urgently to the Royal Hospital for Children, where doctors have characterized her condition as critical but stable.

Sergeant Nicolas Twigg said: ‘Our thoughts are with the family of the boy who died and they have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time for them.

Police are looking into the incident in order to determine the full circumstances.

The road was closed for more than six hours yesterday as an investigation was launched.

Anyone in the area at the time of the crash who saw what happened is urged to get in touch.

‘In addition, if you have dashcam (footage) that could help with our crash investigation, then please contact us’, Sergeant Twigg added.

A spokesperson from First said: ‘We can confirm that one of our buses was involved in the incident on Calder St, Tuesday evening.

‘A full investigation into the circumstances is now underway, and we are working closely with Police Scotland.

‘The thoughts of everyone at First Bus are with all those involved and affected by this incident.’
