According to Chinese state media, at least four people have died in a building collapse in Anhui province.
Part of a 10-unit apartment building in Tongling city collapsed on Monday afternoon. Rescue workers searched for survivors for many hours. A 12-year-old girl was found alive and is getting emergency help, the news said.
Cranes and backhoes were used to make sure the remaining parts of the building were strong and secure.
It’s not clear yet why the collapse happened. The city has had a lot of rain lately, which has flooded underground buildings.
Low quality construction and illegal changes to buildings are becoming more noticeable as the buildings from the 1980s and 1990s start to get older.
