A young girl passed away after six days being discovered in an unconscious state at a house.
On March 15, the 18-month-old was taken by ambulance from a Preston, Lancashire, property to a hospital.
She couldn’t be rescued, according to the police, and passed away at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital six days later.
An investigation into her death has now been opened by the police.
There have been no arrests made, and a post-mortem will be performed to determine how she passed away.
Lancashire Police said: ‘We were called by the ambulance service at around 1.15pm on Wednesday, March 15 to a report that an 18-month-old girl had been found unresponsive at an address on Kings Drive in Fulwood.
‘Emergency services attended and the girl was taken to Royal Preston Hospital before later being transferred to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, but she sadly died on the morning of March 21.
‘Our thoughts are with the girl’s loved ones at this time.’
