Local police have reported that a British woman who lived in Cyprus was found dead and covered in bruises at her residence.
The 38-year-old was found by her lover on Wednesday at a Paphos flat where they supposedly share a home.
She was discovered to have two black eyes as well as significant bruises.
According to the Cyprus Mail, police were called to the flat at about 4.30 p.m. when the woman’s partner reported something.
An autopsy was due to be carried out on Thursday afternoon but authorities have not yet commented on the cause of death.
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the victim’s death.
The UK Foreign Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
