50 Ukrainian drones shot down after causing fires at Russian power plants – Moscow

The Defence Ministry in Moscow stated on Saturday that Ukraine had sent multiple drones over Russia the previous night. It seems like the drones were attacking Russia’s energy facilities.

Air defenses in Russia shot down fifty drones in eight different areas, with 26 being shot down in the Belgorod region near the Ukrainian border. A woman with a broken leg and the man taking care of her died during a big attack. The explosions caused a fire in their home, and they didn’t make it out alive. This happened in Belgorod, Gov. Vyacheslav Gladkov posted on the internet.

A woman who was going to have a baby and her unborn child were also killed in the shelling on Saturday.

Drones were also said to be destroyed over several regions in Russia’s west and south, including the Bryansk, Kursk, Tula, Smolensk, Ryazan, and Kaluga regions, as well as in the Moscow region.

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that they knocked down a Ukrainian fighter jet. It didn’t give any specific information and we couldn’t check if the claims were true.

Ukrainian officials usually don’t say anything about attacks in Russia. But a lot of the drone attacks seemed to target Russia’s energy facilities.

Vladislav Shapsha, the leader of the Kaluga area, said that a drone attack caused a fire at a power station, and the Governor of Bryansk also mentioned it. Alexander Bogomaz and the governor of Smolensk. Vasily Anokhin said there were also fires at places where fuel and energy are stored.

Lately, Ukrainian drones have been targeting Russian oil refineries and terminals. This is part of increased attacks on Russia’s land.

Ukrainian people who make drones have been making the weapons go farther for a long time. They are doing this because Kyiv wants to make up for not having as many weapons and soldiers as the other side in battle. Drones are a cheaper choice for Ukraine while they wait for more military help from the US.

Moscow announced on Friday evening that an American who fought with separatists in Ukraine from 2014 to 2017 has died in the Russian-controlled Donetsk region.

Russell Bentley, 64, used to work for the Russian news agency Sputnik but is no longer involved in military activities. The people he used to work with and the boss of a TV channel said he died. They called him “a real American. ” He went by the nickname “Texas” and had been in jail for smuggling drugs before he left the United States.

The reason for Bentley’s death is not known yet, but the local police had said earlier that they couldn’t find him from April 8.

Last night, Russia launched seven missiles at Ukraine. The Ukrainian air force was able to stop two missiles and three drones.

The GovernorThe leader of Ukraine’s Odesa region, Oleh Kiper, said that infrastructure was damaged by ballistic missiles last night, but he did not give more information. The Black Sea city was attacked on Friday and the port was damaged, including two places where food is sent out, said President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to the governor, two men were killed in the Russian attack, including an 81-year-old retired man in the city of Vovchansk. Oleh Syniehubov is the leader of the Kharkiv region in Ukraine.

A 60-year-old lady got hurt when a bomb hit a tall apartment building.

Beside the attacks, Ukrainian police are looking for two Ukrainian soldiers who killed a police officer at a checkpoint in Vinnytsia region.

The soldiers started shooting at Maksym Zaretskyi, who is 20 years old, early on Saturday morning when he stopped their car for a regular check. Zaretskyi’s friend got hurt, but he was able to survive the attack.

On social media, Ukraine’s Ground Forces Command said that the two men were in the military. They said Zaretskyi’s death is a big loss and the people who killed him should be punished very harshly.

The Ground Forces Command said they will help with a thorough and fair investigation in any way they can.
