In the past few months, floods in Niger, triggered by heavy rains, have claimed the lives of 32 individuals, ANP news agency reports.
According to new information from a department in the Ministry of Interior, Tahoua, located in the southern region, has the highest number of deaths with 12 people. Maradi, also in the south, has 10 deaths, followed by Zinder with six deaths.
Four people died. The death toll includes two fatalities in Tillaberi, one in Niamey, and another one in Diffa. According to the report, nine individuals lost their lives due to collapsing houses, while 23 perished as a result of drowning.
Very heavy rains happen in Niger every year during the rainy season. This season usually lasts for about three to four months, starting in mid-June and ending in mid-October.
