24-year-old football player killed by knife in “random attack”

In southern Spain, a 24-year-old football player was stabbed to death.

Francisco J. Naval Perez was stabbed in the chest on Saturday in Cadiz while playing for Chipiona C. F. in Spain’s Segunda Andaluza Senior.

Local media reports that a 20-year-old suspect, who hasn’t been named and has no criminal history, is being held by police.

The married father of one was allegedly randomly stabbed in the chest with a huge knife, according to the Spanish Civil Guard.

The authorities also confirmed there are no known links between the two men and that the attack appears to have been random.

It is claimed the attacker stabbed Perez without saying anything.

The footballer was taken to to the hospital in Sanlucar and Jerez de la Frontera following the attack.

He then had to be transferred to the Puerta del Mar hospital in Cadiz.

The Chipiona C. F. said in a statement: ‘Well, we don’t even have words to begin with, this seems like a nightmare, but unfortunately it’s real, our player Paco Naval Perez has left us, he died this morning.’

They added that he had been ‘fighting between life and death’ and he ‘had his whole life ahead of him’.

A number of Spanish clubs have also offered their condolences, with Real Madrid C. F. saying: ‘Real Madrid C. F. deeply regrets the death of Paco Naval, a Chipiona C. F. player, and wishes to express its condolences and affection to all his family, his club, teammates and loved ones. RIP.’
