15-year-old boy charged for stabbing teacher in school hallway

A 15-year-old kid has been charged following the stabbing of a maths teacher in a school hallway.

The unnamed 15-year-old is accused of section 18 attempted wounding with intent and possession of a bladed item.

Jamie Sansom, a teacher, was stabbed on Monday at Tewkesbury Academy.

The school was shut down for a number of hours before the suspect was captured about two hours after the incident.

and he’s now recovering well – and hoping to return to the classroom before the end of the summer term.

Mr Sansom also said speculation he was intervening in a fight between students was ‘simply not true’.

Gloucestershire Police said the boy will remain in custody tonight and will appear at Cheltenham magistrates court on Wednesday.

The school reopened on Tuesday following ‘careful assessment and consultation with the police’.

A Tewkesbury Academy spokesman said: ‘We feel it is important for our students to be able to return to a sense of normality in their school, where we will be providing a range of additional mental and emotional support for students and staff.’
