14-year-old boy detained together with his father after he ‘used dad’s gun to kill teenage girl’

State police in New Mexico have charged a man and his 14-year-old son after a 13-year-old girl was reportedly slain using her father’s guns.

On July 28, while four young people were enjoying some music at 104 Cabresto Road in Questa, a town in Taos County, one of the boys pointed a gun at the female.

The youngster fired the trigger, killing the woman, before ‘dragging the female’s body outside’ and returning to the property, according to the New Mexico Department of Public Safety.

The teenager’s father, William Brown, 39, allegedly entered the home afterward, and both he and the son allegedly refused to leave when police arrived.

The 30-minute standoff was heated.

The child was eventually handcuffed by police and taken to Farmington’s San Juan Juvenile Detention Centre for booking.

The kid, who has not been named by officials, was accused of two charges of tampering with evidence and one open count of first-degree murder.

He is also charged with two charges of assault on a police officer, though the department gave no additional information.

The safety agency noted that Brown possessed the weapon and was charged with giving a youngster access to a firearm, which resulted in death.

The Taos County Detention Centre has received his booking.

The safety department announced that while the inquiry is ongoing, all information related to the matter would be given to the district attorney’s office.

John Anthony Ortega, the mayor of Questa Village, wrote on Facebook: “I am saddened by the tragedy that occurred yesterday.”

“My prayers and thoughts are with the families, neighbours, and First Responders who were impacted by it.”
