Akufo-Addo keeps changing kitchen staff over alleged fear of poisoning? – Kwaku Annan

Former TV host of Net 2 TV’s show known for exposing ‘fake’ pastors, Kwaku Annan, has taken a swipe at President Akufo-Addo over an alleged claim of consistent changing of the cooks and chefs of the president over alleged claims of poisoning following reports of John Kumah’s death being blamed on poisoning.

Speaking on his new political programme called ‘The Frontline’ on CTV on March 22, 2024, which is part of CMG, he quizzed why the president’s outfit keeps changing their kitchen staff.

He asked, “How many times, I will like to ask how many times they have changed the cooks of the president? And why would they change them? Is it because they no longer look appealing, or is there something else? I ain’t talking about a minister; oh, I’m talking about the president himself”

The outspoken host, also, continued by slamming members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for their wickedness and desire to kill their own members over political power and dominance. According to him, the death of the late Finance Minister and MP for Ejisu’s death was caused by member(s) of his own party, NPP.

“John Kumah’s job is an inside job, You people are very wicked people” he fumed.

Another great P.P.N member will fall on his neck soon – Nigel Gaisie

Barely few days before the backlash and controversies surrounding the religious leader’s prophecy about the death of the late deputy finance minister and Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Kumah, could die out, the leader and founder of Prophetic Hill Chapel, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has again given another prophecy of doom concerning a Kumasi-based member of a political party he calls P.P.N.

The prophet, in a Facebook post sighted by TIG Post, revealed that around 5am today, March 13, 2024, he had a vision where he saw that “another great one fell on his neck in the P.P.N. political party.”

He “saw two people,” he said.

In the said vision, the Prophetic Hill leader stated that he “heard Chaiman chairman, why soooo SOON. We see in bits and prophecy in bits.I saw two people”.

Another death prophecy from Nigel Gaisie

He cautioned the party to be vigilant and cautious while they seek divine intervention, highlighting that there is an imminent danger that needs to be dealt with.

“There is an evil hanging around; let them seek the face of the Lord if they can and also be WATCHFUL…..AND GUIDED SAYS ELOHIM…AMEN…

Over what appears as jabs to critics who will chide him for always foreseeing such occurences he jabbed that they ask. However, to show the severity of the matter at hand, he wrote in caps *REGION ASANTEEEEEEE…REGION ASANTEEEE..WOKE UP AND PRAYYYYYYYY…AMEN N AMEN..”

You’re a liar, no one poisoned John Kumah – Okatakyie Afrifa tells Captain Smart

Media personality, Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah has characterized the recent claims by Onua TV presenter, Captain Smart, regarding what caused the untimely death of the deputy finance minister, John Kumah as false.

Speaking on Angel TV he indicated that Captain Smart’s assertions should not be encouraged as his statements lack evidence.

“Captain Smart you’re mad, you have a mental problem because you saw someone putting poison in someone’s food and couldn’t stop or alert anyone. You’re a liar. Your claims of someone poisoning John Kumah and Wontumi are false,” he added.

He expressed shock as to why a rational human being as Captain Smart would sit unconcerned when he saw someone poisoning food that was to be consumed by an individual.

Captain Smart had alleged that the deceased died from food poisoning, linking it to an event he attended with the Ashanti regional chairman for New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Bernard Bosiako Antwi (Chairman Wontumi).

According to him, he was intentionally poisoned because of his political ambitions, stating that he represented a threat to certain party leaders.

“He has been poisoned 3 times, ask Osei-Kyei-Mensah if I am telling lies. His wife is a nurse. So now when he is travelling his wife carries along and accompanies him. Osei Kyei Mensah has been poisoned 3 times, some people have marked him for death. I know what I am saying. When you meet Kyei Mensah Bonsu tell him I am the one who is making the claim.

“When they failed to kill Osei Kyei Mensah through poison, those evil individuals channelled their attention to Hon. Andy Appiah Kubi and poisoned him. After they had succeeded they went after John Kumah,” he added.

The late minister passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

According to reports, he collapsed in his office and was swiftly transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

Subsequently, due to a decline in his condition, he was flown out of the country.

The Member of Parliament for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Kumah, was known for his diverse roles as a Lawyer, Entrepreneur, and dedicated Politician.

He is survived by Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah, and six children.

John Kumah loved the things of God – Wife

Apostle Mrs. Lilian Kumah has commended her late husband, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, for his fervor in matters of faith, a quality she believes will continue to serve as a source of inspiration and solace for the family.

The widow of the late Deputy Finance Minister expressed these sentiments after Dr. Kumah’s passing last Thursday.

Survived by a wife and six children, the 45-year-old Deputy Finance Minister had a profound impact on the church, even in his final days.

“Among all the things, he left us with God. One thing that he loved doing was about the work of God. Even in his last days, he changed a lot in the church, which cost him a lot, but he insisted that he wants the best for God,” she said.

Reflecting on the family’s coping mechanisms, Mrs. Kumah stated, “It’s not easy for both his mother and father because it’s that baobab tree that we all enjoyed some fresh air under that’s been uprooted,” adding, “his motive was to train me as a strong woman, and he’s accomplished that.”

Addressing concerns about speculation regarding the cause of her husband’s death, Mrs. Kumah urged authorities, including President Akufo-Addo, to investigate the matter.

She revealed that Dr. Kumah had been diagnosed with a blood-related disease in August 2023 during a medical check-up in Germany.

Despite arrangements to transport him to Accra for further medical attention and an onward planned trip to Germany, he passed away at the Suhum Government Hospital in the Eastern Region.

A private legal practitioner and entrepreneur, Dr. Kumah, served as the Managing Partner of Aduaprokye Chambers, a law firm, and was the inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP).

Under his leadership at NEIP, approximately 7,000 start-ups received training in 2018 through the Presidential Business Support program, with about 1,350 beneficiaries obtaining funding support.

He held a Doctorate in Business Innovation from the Swiss Business School, Switzerland, and an Executive Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

Dr. Kumah also earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics with Philosophy and Law from the University of Ghana, following his professional Law Certificate from the Ghana School of Law in 2013. He was called to the Ghana Bar in 2013.

  • Journalists have now turned into pathologists and prophets – Sefa Kayi over John Kumah’s poisoned claims

Journalists have now turned into pathologists and prophets – Sefa Kayi over John Kumah’s poisoned claims

Renowned broadcaster Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of the popular morning show “Kokrokoo” on Peace FM in Ghana, has advised journalists against spreading unfounded speculations regarding the death of Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah.

John Kumah passed away last Thursday on his way to the hospital, leaving behind a wife and six children.

In the wake of his death, there have been various rumors circulating about the cause.

Some reports, notably from Onua TV’s morning show Presenter Captain Smart, suggest that the late Deputy Minister succumbed to food poisoning, allegedly as part of a plot to prevent his ascent within the New Patriotic Party.

Without singling out anyone, Kwami Sefa Kayi criticized the journalistic practice of making claims without evidence, especially concerning sensitive matters like someone’s death.

He questioned whether those asserting food poisoning had considered the potential harm their comments might inflict on the grieving family, particularly the widow and her children.

Sefa Kayi expressed concern over the erosion of ethical standards among journalists, noting the tendency for some to act as both pathologists and prophets in discussing the causes of a person’s death.

He emphasized the need for evidence before making such serious allegations.

In response to the situation, the widow of John Kumah has taken legal action against Captain Smart, demanding substantiation of his claims in court.

She expressed frustration and sadness over the false claims, urging authorities to hold Captain Smart accountable for spreading misinformation.

“If it is true that a person who is not dead but alive claims that he knows how my husband (John Kumah) died and that he was poisoned, and that person is still moving around for the past three weeks, it hurts me, it saddens me and I do not know how best to express my frustrations about these false claims by Captain Smart”, the widow lamented in an interview on Asaase radio.

She added; “If there are laws in this country concerning such false claims, I think this is the time for the leadership of the land to bring that wicked person (Captain Smart) to book to prove his false claims and to point out the persons who were involved in the poisoning of my late husband.”

“This is why I am saying the National Media Commission, GJA, Media Foundation for West Africa, as for this, I plead with you to say something because we are the journalists doing the work and we should be able to look at ourselves and say these are low, low dirty standards.”

On his show, Sefa Kayi called upon the National Media Commission, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), and the Media Foundation for West Africa to address the issue, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high journalistic standards.

“Journalists have now turned into pathologists and Prophets…We’ve lost ethics as human beings. Someone is dead and in no time, people are on radio and TV discussing the cause of his death. His wife has filed a complaint. If right now, you who claim to know he was poisoned is asked to provide evidence, where are you going to get the evidence?”, Mr. Sefa Kayi admonished.

“Why is it that someone (referring to Captain Smart) has been this bold to claim that he knows for a fact that a person like John Kumah who has served his country virtually all his life, was poisoned, while he was working for his country and party (New Patriotic Party, NPP), why should we sit down and not bring that person to book.

  • Autopsy report reveals true cause of John Kumah’s death

Autopsy report reveals true cause of John Kumah’s death

An alleged autopsy conducted on the late Member of Parliament for Ejisu, John Ampontuah Kumah, has dismissed poisoning as the cause of his demise, according to a GhanaWeb report.

The report indicates that the autopsy, performed on Friday, March 8, 2024, by a certified pathologist, pinpointed the cause of death as multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer.

Contrary to earlier speculations attributing the Deputy Minister for Finance’s death to poisoning, a close source revealed to GhanaWeb that he had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma in early 2023 and was actively undergoing treatment.

Family insiders disclosed that the MP, who had recently returned from Germany, where he was receiving medical care, experienced a deterioration in his condition, ultimately leading to his passing.

Multiple myeloma is a blood cancer affecting plasma cells, responsible for producing antibodies to combat infections. In this condition, abnormal plasma cells multiply uncontrollably in the bone marrow, displacing healthy blood cells. The repercussions include weakened bones, anaemia, kidney damage, and compromised immune function.

Records from the German Hospital, according to GhanaWeb, detail the MP’s diagnosis, including multiple myeloma, a dislocated humerus shaft, and extraarticular lateral clavicle fracture (right), among other medical issues.

At the time of his death, John Kumah had reportedly undergone four chemotherapy sessions, one of which took place at the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre in Accra, as per his request.

GhanaWeb’s report also disclosed that the MP was scheduled to commence active treatment in Germany on March 12, 2024, but against medical advice, he was discharged to participate in the Independence Day celebrations on March 6, 2024, before intending to return for treatment.

During the transportation from Kumasi to Accra, the MP’s condition worsened, leading to his untimely death. Plans were underway to fly him back to Germany for medical attention.

Meanwhile, Apostle Lilian Kumah, the wife of the late MP, who is supposedly aware of the diagnosis from the German hospital, has filed a police complaint against Captain Smart, the host of Onua FM’s morning show.

Captain Smart, in a recent show, alleged that the MP and other NPP figures had been targeted with food poisoning, a claim that the MP’s wife requires proof of.

The MP’s widow according to reports is demanding evidence and proof from Captain Smart regarding his statements concerning her husband’s death.

The Independent Ghana has not independently confirmed this information but deems it a responsibility to provide comprehensive details regarding the MP’s demise. Updates will be provided as the story unfolds.

    What is Multiple Myeloma:

Multiple myeloma is a type of cancer affecting plasma cells, responsible for producing antibodies to fight infections. Abnormal plasma cells grow uncontrollably in the bone marrow, leading to weakened bones, anaemia, kidney damage, and suppressed immune function. Symptoms include bone pain, weakness, fatigue, frequent infections, weight loss, and excessive thirst. Treatment involves a combination of chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, stem cell transplantation, and supportive care.

We supported YouStart with funds generated from E-levy – John Kumah

Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr John Kumah, has revealed that the parts of revenue generated from the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) was used to support the YouStart initiative.

He indicated that this move was part of efforts to curb the high unemployment rate in the country.

Speaking at the launch of the Wealth and Jobs Expo Ghana, in response to data from the Ghana Statistical Service suggesting that about 1.5 million Ghanaian youth are unemployed, Mr Kumah asserted that, “The Ghana Statistical Service on Wednesday announced that about 1.5 million Ghanaian youth are unemployed.

“Last year, E-Levy generated GHS 1.19 billion, and as part of dealing with the job situation… unemployment situation, the government has committed funds through YouStart from these E-Levy sources…to GEA and NEIP to address the unemployment situation in the country.”

He noted that the government allocated funds to its YouStart, National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) and Ghana Enterprise Agency to create more jobs for the teeming unemployed youth in the country.

Additionally he said, “I am happy to announce that institutions like Wealth and Jobs Expo and all private groups that are willing to help create jobs in the private sector will also be supported to help create jobs and businesses in the private sector.”

Dr Kumah noted that the government, in the medium term, aims to intensify efforts to attract domestic investments and Foreign Direct Investments with an emphasis on creating jobs anchored on the government’s growth strategy.

He indicated that the strategy is projected to contribute approximately 500,000 jobs.

“Even if we get it, we get 10% of them, it’s 150,000 who will become entrepreneurs. If they do an average of, let’s say, 100 jobs….150,000 x 100, you have almost solved the unemployment problem,” Dr John Kumah stated.

  • PIAC must take the lead in advocating to maximize Ghana’s chances for oil production

PIAC must take the lead in advocating to maximize Ghana’s chances for oil production

Dr. John Kumah, a deputy finance minister, has encouraged the Public Interest Accountability Committee (PIAC) to take the lead in pushing for a modification of current petroleum agreements so that Ghana might gain more from its oil production.

He claimed that although the government was eager to increase the nation’s involvement in the extractive industry, it was difficult to change the conditions of agreements due to its “interests and limitations”.

“Some people have questioned why our interest in the extractive industries is limited to 10 per cent or 20 per cent of the resources and not 55 per cent or 60 per cent.

“When such issues are pushed vehemently and raised by PIAC, I believe as a nation we can see changes in the terms. It is not easy based on the contract we have signed but everything is possible once there is a will,” he said.

During the unveiling ceremony of a new logo for PIAC, as well as the introduction of a revamped website and a data dashboard, Dr. Kumah emphasized the significance of these initiatives.

The freshly designed logo incorporates elements such as an oil rig, a symbol of an oil droplet, and the Ghana Cedi sign, all strategically chosen to depict the essence and functions of PIAC. The incorporation of the Committee’s corporate colors, black symbolizing crude oil, and gold representing wealth, further reinforces its identity.

The renewed website is a reflection of PIAC’s commitment to bolstering its public outreach, enhancing its visibility, and creating avenues for feedback. Additionally, the Data Dashboard has been developed to offer the public user-friendly access to information concerning Ghana’s petroleum sector.

The Data Dashboard serves as an interactive platform showcasing pertinent statistics on oil and gas production, receipts, as well as the allocation and distribution of associated revenues.

Mr. Kumah underscored that the Government recognizes the complementary role of PIAC’s endeavors in the nation’s development journey, particularly in the effective utilization and management of oil revenue.

“I do not think that government sees your contribution as a tango between what government does and what you say. In the end, the objective is for the nation to do better with our oil resources. Every criticism we make should be aimed at making the system better,” he said.

In an interview, PIAC Chairman Professor Kwame Adom-Frimpong urged the government to finance the committee’s statutory activities to enable it to lead the push for expanding Ghana’s oil stake.

“Once it is coming from him (Deputy Minister), from here I will follow up to ensure what he wants us to do is done with the needed resources,” he said.

Prof. Adom-Frimpong also said the committee hoped to be granted prosecutorial powers through the review of the Petroleum Revenue Management Act (PRMA) to ensure that it could enforce compliance with the PRMA laws.

Lead advocacy to maximize Ghana’s oil production prospects – Deputy Finance Minister to PIAC

Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Kumah, has encouraged the Public Interest Accountability Committee (PIAC) to take a leading role in advocating for the reevaluation of current petroleum contracts.

The goal is to ensure that Ghana maximizes its gains from its oil production.

Dr Kumah made the call at the unveiling ceremony of a new PIAC logo, a redesigned website, and a data dashboard on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

He noted that although the government is eager to enhance its share in the extractive industry, certain “interests and constraints” hinder the ease of modifying the agreement terms.

“Some people have questioned why our interest in the extractive industries is limited to 10 per cent or 20 per cent of the resources and not 55 per cent or 60 per cent.

“When such issues are pushed vehemently and raised by PIAC, I believe as a nation we can see changes in the terms. It is not easy based on the contract we have signed but everything is possible once there is a will” he said.

Mr. Kumah expressed that the Government views the endeavors of PIAC as supplementary to the country’s progress in effectively using and overseeing oil revenue for development purposes.

“I do not think that government sees your contribution as a tango between what government does and what you say. In the end, the objective is for the nation to do better with our oil resources. Every criticism we make should be aimed at making the system better,” he said.

The updated logo incorporates elements such as an oil rig, a droplet of oil, and the Ghana Cedi symbol, all of which symbolize the functions and mission of PIAC.

Furthermore, the logo includes the corporate colors of PIAC, black representing crude oil, and gold (yellow) symbolizing prosperity.

The revamped website also underscores the Committee’s commitment to enhancing its engagement with the public, enhancing PIAC’s visibility and its undertakings, and facilitating the receipt of feedback.

The Data Dashboard aims to provide the public with easy access to information pertaining to Ghana’s petroleum sector. This interactive platform showcases statistics regarding oil and gas production, revenue receipts, as well as the allocation and distribution of these earnings.

  • No BoG recapitalisation levy in the offing – Govt

No BoG recapitalisation levy in the offing – Govt

A Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah, has refuted assertions made by the Minority Leader regarding the government’s purported intention to implement a Bank of Ghana (BoG) recapitalization levy for citizens to bear.

During a press conference held on Tuesday, August 8, Dr. Ato Forson stated that the government’s aim is to introduce the levy as a preventive measure to avert the potential collapse of the central bank due to its recent financial setbacks.

“The IMF has made offers to assist the Government to develop a plan for the recapitalization of the Central Bank.

That is why paragraph 18 of Ghana’s Memorandum of Economic and Financial Policy (MEFP) sent to IMF stated this fact.”

“Let me assure you that very soon, Ghanaians will be made to pay for Bank of Ghana recapitalization levy, a tax to recapitalise the Bank of Ghana, because the central bank has collapsed virtually,” the Minority Leader claimed.

In a Facebook update posted on Wednesday, August 8, the Deputy Minister of Finance unequivocally rejected the assertion. The Member of Parliament for Ejisu clarified that the government has no intention of implementing the suggested levy, emphasizing the robustness of the Bank of Ghana.

He emphasized that the Bank of Ghana remains sturdy and urged Ghanaians to dismiss the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s propagandist claims.

“Ignore this funny NDC Propaganda about the collapse of the Bank of Ghana (BoG). BoG is Solid!”

“The NDC is funny! It’s not true that a recapitalisation levy is to be introduced for BoG, the Central Bank hasn’t collapsed.”

“The main source of income to the Bank is from government transactions, i.e. fees and charges on all government transfers, the bank’s investments in marketable instruments, and also earnings from non-marketable holdings of the Bank,” he said.
