Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly reached an agreement with Benfica for the acquisition of striker Goncalo Ramos, according to The Athletic.
The two clubs have come to an understanding, and the 22-year-old striker will head to the French capital initially on a one-year loan deal. The agreement includes an obligatory option to buy for €65 million, with potential add-ons, to be exercised after 12 months.
While personal terms are yet to be finalised, it is not expected to be a stumbling block, and Ramos is likely to sign this week ahead of the new season.
In the previous season, Ramos showcased his goal-scoring prowess, netting 27 goals and providing 12 assists in 47 appearances for Benfica as they secured their 38th league title. His standout performances, including a hat trick for Portugal in the World Cup in Qatar, caught the attention of several top European clubs.
Should PSG successfully secure his services, Ramos will be their ninth signing of the summer, joining the ranks of Hugo Ekitike, Milan Skriniar, Marco Asensio, Manuel Ugarte, Lee Kang-In, Lucas Hernandez, Xavi Simons, and Arnau Tenas.
As PSG seeks a replacement for Lionel Messi, Ramos’ versatility as a deep striker or an out-and-out forward would undoubtedly bolster the team’s attacking options.
