Popular Ghanaian sports journalist, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has been appointed as the new Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), replacing Acting Director General Seth Panwum.
Ampofo Ankrah has built a successful career in sports media, working with major outlets such as the BBC, SuperSport, and Metro TV. He is currently the Head of Sports at MAX FM.
In his new position, he will collaborate with the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to improve sports development and management in Ghana. His duties will include promoting professional and recreational sports, encouraging fitness programs, and ensuring the proper upkeep of sports facilities.
Many stakeholders believe his appointment will bring fresh ideas and improvements to the NSA, helping to enhance sports administration in the country.
Beyond his media career, Ampofo Ankrah has been a key figure in Ghana’s beach soccer scene. He is the President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) and previously led the Beach Soccer Committee under the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
As he takes on this new role, the sports community looks forward to seeing how his leadership will contribute to the growth of Ghanaian sports both locally and internationally.
