Atletico Madrid want Thomas Partey sold to mitigate effects of coronavirus shutdown

Part of the Atletico Madrid board want the club to sell Thomas Partey to mitigate the economic effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, GHANAsoccernet.com can report.

Diego Simeone’s side are thought to be open to cashing in on the star, which could pave the way for a move to Arsenal.

The Los Rojiblancos board are ready to sacrifice the talented midfielder for economic gain after the club was hit financially due to the coronavirus shutdown.

Cadena COPE has reported that some senior figures at the club want the Ghana international sold with Arsenal ready to meet his £44.5 million evaluation so they can mitigate the economic effects of post-coronavirus crisi.

The Gunners have stepped up their effort to sign the Ghanaian star, who is facing an uncertain summer after being linked with a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano.

Arsenal have reportedly tabled a triple-your-money contract offer for the Ghana star.

Partey had been keen to stay with the Spanish giants, but given the huge sums being discussed it’s reported that he’s now considering his options.

Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have also expressed an interest in the 27-year-old, and could be tempted to make a move.
