Ghanaian reggae/dancehall musician Stonebwoy has finally addressed the controversy surrounding the cancellation of Shatta Wale’s performance at the University of Ghana (UG) campus concert.
This event, falls part of the university’s hall week celebrations, sparked a dispute as Shatta Wale and fellow artist Stonebwoy were scheduled to perform on the same night.
The two musicians have a history of feuding, most notably during the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) incident, which led to both being banned from the awards scheme.
Shatta Wale’s performance was canceled, while Stonebwoy’s show went ahead as planned, causing Shatta Wale to lash out on social media with harsh words directed not only at Stonebwoy but also at his family.
In response, Stonebwoy addressed the issue during an interview on Asaase radio, expressing his disbelief at Shatta Wale’s claims. “It is ridiculous for my brother to make such claims. It makes me feel as though I am too powerful. I am not an event organizer,” Stonebwoy said.
He added that while he wasn’t surprised by Shatta Wale’s outburst, he did expect better. “I am not surprised the rants were directed towards me; it’s expected from my brother. I deserve an apology from him, but I know it won’t happen,” Stonebwoy concluded.
