Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith, known as Chef Smith, recently admitted in an interview on GHOne that he had falsified a Guinness World Record (GWR) certificate.
Chef Smith confessed to altering an online GWR certificate to claim the record for the longest individual cooking marathon at 820 hours.
During the interview, Chef Smith expressed his need for psychological help, stating, “I need a psychologist. I am not well.”
When asked if he would attempt another cookathon, he confirmed his willingness, emphasizing, “I will embark on a second cookathon if it’s legitimate. I will give my all this time if given the opportunity.”
However, Guinness World Records clarified that they had no record of his application or attempt for such a title.
This revelation led to public backlash, highlighting the likely inauthenticity of the certificate.
Chef Smith has since apologized for his actions.
