Ghanaian reggae/ dancehall star Stonebwoy has responded to the recent controversy over the cancellation of Shatta Wale’s performance at the University of Ghana (UG) campus.
This event, part of the university’s hall week celebrations, ignited tensions as both Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy were set to perform on the same night.
The two artists have had a tumultuous relationship, particularly following their clash at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), which led to a ban for both from the awards.
Whiles Shatta Wale’s performance was abruptly canceled Stonebwoy’s show proceeded.
Shatta Wale took to social media, launching a tirade of offensive remarks at Stonebwoy and his family.
In an interview on Asaase radio, Stonebwoy responded to Shatta Wale’s accusations. He called the claims absurd, emphasizing that he had no control over the event’s organization. “It’s ridiculous for my brother to make such claims. It almost feels like I’m given powers I don’t have. I am not an event organizer,” Stonebwoy remarked.
Stonebwoy also noted that while he wasn’t shocked by Shatta Wale’s outburst, he did find it disappointing. “I am not surprised the rants were directed towards me; it’s what I expected from my brother. I believe I deserve an apology from him, but I don’t anticipate it happening,” Stonebwoy concluded.
