Controversial Big Brother Naija personality, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, widely known as Phyna, has stirred a debate by asserting that polygamy is a domain exclusively for affluent men and not those with limited financial means.
During a recent episode of her podcast, “Spill with Phyna,” she engaged in a discussion on the topic with her fellow co-star, Tacha.
Phyna, using examples to bolster her stance, argued that Yul’s decision to marry his second wife, Judy Austin, might have been more palatable to his first wife, May, had he been exceptionally wealthy.
Phyna supported her claim by emphasising the significant role money plays in the success of polygamous marriages, citing billionaire businessman Ned Nwoko, known for having six wives, including the well-known actress Regina Daniels.
Drawing a comparison between Ned Nwoko’s situation and Yul’s, Phyna expressed her opinion that May would have been more amenable to her husband taking a second wife if he were a high-net-worth individual.
The statement has sparked discussions about the intersection of wealth and polygamous relationships.
Earlier Yul Edochie announced his intention to start his own church “True Salvation Ministry”, revealing plans for a weekly church service lasting an hour every Sunday.
