Morocco’s major cities were flooded with joyous fans after the country advanced to the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time.
After a goalless draw, the Atlas Lions defeated Spain 3-0 in a shootout. On Saturday, they will face Portugal (15:00 GMT).
The Moroccan Football Federation described the victory as “impossible not Moroccan.”
Flares were set off and flags were waved in Rabat’s streets as cheering, singing, and drumming continued late into the night.
