Media personality, Nana Yaa Brefo, known for her outspoken nature, has expressed her frustration with the ongoing power cuts, commonly known as dumsor, which have provoked widespread anger among affected Ghanaians.
In a video shared on her Instagram page and viewed by GhanaWeb, Yaa Brefo criticized the lack of decisive action from both the government and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in resolving the power crisis.
She demanded a clear schedule for power outages to enable people to plan their daily activities and alleviate the resulting frustrations.
She exclaimed, “What nonsense is this? My lights just went off. They cut it for two hours, then restored it briefly. I had to endure the heat outside at midnight. They keep giving us flimsy excuses. The government should provide a timetable so we know when it will go off.”
Yaa Brefo’s comments echo the concerns raised by numerous individuals, including politicians, regarding the unstable power supply in various areas.
Despite President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s assertion during the recent State of the Nation’s Address (SONA) that his administration has avoided dumsor for seven years, the government and ECG have refrained from issuing a load-shedding timetable, attributing the irregular power supply to ongoing maintenance works.
