The popular dance duo Afronitaa and Abigail have expressed their gratitude for the support they received from Ghanaians during the finals of the 2024 Britain’s Got Talent in the UK.
Afronitaaa thanked Ghanaians for their support, which played a crucial role in helping them reach the final stage of the competition.
She also expressed her appreciation for the Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for his social media post encouraging the public to support them during this critical stage of the contest.
“The whole of Ghana is going crazy about us. Every single TV station, every single radio station, every blogger, even the Vice President [Bawumia] has posted about us and they are wishing us the best.
“The whole of Ghana is rooting for us, and we are so happy about it. We are thrilled to be here to put our country on the map and make them proud,” she said in a video shared by UTV on X.
Meanwhile, Afronitaaa and Abigail were named the third-best act in the 2024 edition of Britain’s Got Talent. Despite being favorites among judges and fans, they missed out on the £250,000 prize money despite a captivating dance performance on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
They were surpassed by Jack Rhodes, who finished second, and Sydine Christmas, who won the prize money and the chance to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.
The story of Afronitaaa and her protégé, Abigail, touched the hearts of the BGT audience and judges from their audition. Abigail’s ability to dance in sync with Afronitaaa, despite being hearing-impaired, garnered praise for the duo throughout the competition.
