Francis Asenso-Boakye, Minister for Roads and Highways, reaffirms government’s dedication to enhancing road infrastructure in Kumasi, urging local support for speedy completion.

During an inspection of road projects in the Kwadaso Municipality, Asenso-Boakye, also Bantama’s Member of Parliament, emphasized community backing to expedite road construction.

The inspection covered various routes including Tanoso market to Pokukrom, Tanoso to Takyiman, Tanoso to Topre, Anhwiakwanta to Kessben, Lazab to Nwamase, and ongoing Kwadaso to Trabuom construction.

Aims included evaluating road conditions and identifying development needs.

Asenso-Boakye, speaking to the Ghana News Agency afterward, expressed contentment with contractors’ progress.

Upon completion, these roads will alleviate commuting stress for locals, reflecting President Akufo-Addo’s commitment to nationwide infrastructure enhancement.

Contractors are urged to hasten efforts for timely completion.

MP Prof. Kingsley Nyarko highlighted the economic boost upon road completion, urging patience and solidarity from drivers and constituents to facilitate constituency development.

We’ll finish Kumawu roads to prove doubters wrong – Amoako-Attah

In order to refute “doubting Thomases” who assert that contractors abandoned the project following the by-election, Minister of Roads and Highways Kwasi Amoako-Attah said the government will complete ongoing road construction in the Kumawu constituency.

The Minister has therefore urged inhabitants of the area to disregard comments that the project has been abandoned.

Mr Amoako-Attah said this when he inspected the ongoing works in the constituency with some officials and engineers from the Ministry.

The Minister also stressed that the government is committed to giving a facelift to roads in the Assin North Constituency, despite public comments that the roads are being constructed because of the upcoming by-election.

“Any road work going on anywhere will continue for Ghanaians to see, because they will be amazed. So those engaging in political propaganda, even though a lot of work has been done, have not seen anything yet. More are coming, and by 27th in the Assin North elections, by the grace of God, we are going to win it like we won the Kumawu seat,” he added.

Mr Amoako-Attah asked those making allegations to get their facts straight before they come out to say anything.

“Those saying we are now working on the roads should know and learn when those contracts were awarded. Some of the projects have even been completed. From next week we are going to start commissioning roads in Assin North, and if it takes one week to complete, they will let us know.”

“There are as many as 12 road projects currently going on, and contractors are on site, and a number of them have been completed,” he stated.

  • 22-storey Airport building roads minister vowed to halt almost completed

The 22-storey building that courted the anger of the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Attah, in December 2019, vowing that he would ensure the construction is halted, is near completion.

The minister gave the order for the demolition of the structure at the Airport Residential Area after there were several complaints from residents in the community about the project.

During a personal visit to the site and on seeing the work being undertaken there in 2019, the minister was incensed with anger.

In the heat of the moment, he ordered the security personnel he was accompanied with, to arrest some three foreign nationals who were supervising the project, which is just adjacent to the Association International School in Accra.

Captured on video, the minister minced no words when he called for the men to arrested, calling for an immediate stop of work.

“The chief executive of this area must be questioned. Not even the president will do this. And I don’t care which political power, economic power or traditional power that person has, this will not be allowed and we will not allow this,” the minister fumed.

However, a recent tweet shared by C-Real on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, shows that the project is near completion.

The photo shared with the tweet showed the building at full height, needing only some finishing touches for it to be completely done.

“Remember a minister raised all hell one bright afternoon swearing he would shut down this construction project near Association International? Well. They’re almost done,” the tweet read.
