Bawumia stands tall for being the most effective Vice President – NPP Communicator

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s tenure as Vice-President has been lauded as the most effective in Ghana’s Fourth Republic by a member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communications Team, Fredrick Kofi Ameyaw.

Speaking on TV3 on Wednesday, November 20, Mr. Ameyaw highlighted Bawumia’s achievements, describing them as unmatched in the nation’s history. He asserted that the Vice-President’s performance demonstrates his readiness to excel as President.

“The fact is that when we want the most effective Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stands tall. Dr. Bawumia made it possible for the Ghana Card to be used for international travel. Dr. Bawumia made it possible for every Ghanaian to be able to have a bank account through mobile money interoperability, which the NDC said he was lying about, but now it has been achieved,” Ameyaw stated.

He commended Dr. Bawumia for spearheading critical policy initiatives and reforms in digitalisation, financial inclusion, and economic management, emphasizing their tangible benefits to Ghanaians.

According to Ameyaw, Bawumia’s pragmatic approach to solving national challenges and his innovative contributions have brought efficiency to governance, solidifying his position as the ideal candidate to lead Ghana into a brighter future.

“Bawumia’s accomplishments go beyond rhetoric,” Ameyaw noted. “His leadership has brought innovation and efficiency to governance, which positions him as the ideal candidate to take Ghana to greater heights as President.”

Ameyaw concluded by urging Ghanaians to rally behind Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming elections, expressing confidence that his proven track record as Vice-President is a strong indicator of the visionary leadership he would bring to the presidency.

Your defeat is inevitable no matter how much you rig Dec polls – NDC to NPP

The Member of Parliament for Juaboso in the Western North Region, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has expressed grave concerns about recent actions by the Electoral Commission (EC) within his constituency.

He accused the EC of appointing 26 polling officers who are allegedly affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP), suggesting that this raises doubts about the credibility of the upcoming elections.

Furthermore, he criticized the recent transfer of the Sefwi Juaboso District Electoral Officer, describing it as politically motivated.

Speaking to journalists, Akandoh cautioned that such actions, if not promptly addressed, could destabilize the nation.

“The sudden and unexplained transfer of the District Electoral Officer in this critical period, that is one month to the 2024 general election, is not just suspicious, it is strategic in her place.

He further alleged that the replacement officer, reportedly handpicked by Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairperson of the EC, has already started appointing individuals with known NPP affiliations as polling officers.

“A hand-picked replacement by Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, has taken over and immediately began appointing known NPP delegates as polling officers.

“But let them hear us clearly, no amount of rigging, no number of planted polling offices, and no manipulation by the EC can save them from the inevitable defeat that awaits them.”

  • Jan-March 2025 will be a test of resilience for new govt – Prof Bokpin

Jan-March 2025 will be a test of resilience for new govt – Prof Bokpin

Economist and Professor of Finance at the University of Ghana, Godfred Bokpin, has emphasized the critical importance of how the country manages its affairs, particularly during the transition period, for its economic growth or potential decline.

Professor Bokpin stated that the incoming administration will face significant challenges in forming the government during the transition from January to March 2025, which he described as a “crucial” time for Ghana’s future.

“The first three months will be very critical, and that is also the transition period. How they manage the transition will be crucial,” he maintained

He explained that the first three months of the transition will be especially important, stressing that previous transitions have not been well managed in the past.

Ghana is scheduled to hold elections on December 7, 2024, to choose new parliamentary members and a president for the next government. According to Bokpin, whenever there has been a regime change since 1992, the country has experienced chaos, which has negatively impacted the investment climate. He urged that this transition should be managed efficiently and smoothly, regardless of which party wins the election.

In a conversation on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on November 20, 2024, Prof. Bokpin also highlighted the importance of prioritizing agriculture in the upcoming administration’s policies to boost the economy. He argued that focusing on agriculture would not only improve food security but also create jobs and help stabilize the cost of living.

Effective leadership, Prof. Bokpin noted, is essential for Ghana’s success, with an emphasis on addressing inflation.

“Reducing food prices and inflation will directly benefit the people of Ghana,” he said, pointing out that tackling inflation is crucial for alleviating the financial burdens on citizens.

Govt has built 1,000 housing units for police officers – NPP

In an effort to address the housing shortage within the Ghana Police Service, over 1,000 housing units have been built, with many now occupied or ready for use by officers.

Fahd Osman, a member of the NPP’s National Communication Team, shared this development on TV3’s Debate Arena, praising President Akufo-Addo for his leadership.

He also highlighted that work is underway on the Tamale-Yendi-Bimbilla road, which will improve access to surrounding towns.

Osman pointed out that, in addition to the Yendi road, the government has invested in numerous infrastructure projects, including roads that have made it easier for farmers to transport their produce to cities, thus lowering food prices.

“This is what we are doing as a government to improve the economic growth of the country through the provision of infrastructure development”, Fahd Osman stated.

He also encouraged Ghanaians to vote for the NPP on December 7 to ensure the continuity of these projects.

While acknowledging some challenges, Osman emphasized that they have not stopped the government from achieving key milestones.

He further mentioned the NPP’s success in building two new firefighter training schools, one in the North and one in Ahafo.

“If you go to the police service, we have added more infrastructure than any other government. Currently, President Akufo-Addo has been able to construct a total of 1000 housing units for the police service’ one at Kwabenya and the other at the Police Depo in Tesano,” Osman added.

Black Stars didn’t qualify for AFCON due to NPP’s poor governance – Mahama

Flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has blamed the poor performance of the Black Stars on the declining state of the country under the current administration of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In light of the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, Mahama pointed to the team’s struggles as a reflection of the broader challenges Ghana is facing under the current government.

Speaking to a crowd at the Akim Oda lorry station on Tuesday, November 19, during his five-day tour of the Eastern Region, Mahama urged Ghanaians to vote for change in the upcoming elections.

He emphasized that the country’s direction needs to shift in order to restore hope, progress, and national pride, especially through the revival of the Black Stars.

Mahama called for a renewed focus on Ghana’s development, believing that revitalizing the Black Stars would help restore the country’s spirit and pride.

“We have lost everything. Even the Black Stars team, which we used as our source of entertainment, is now in its worst state.”

“For the past 20 years, anytime it is time for AFCON, the Black Stars will take part. But we have failed to even make it through qualifiers. We allowed ourselves and the likes of Sudan, a war-torn country that has qualified for AFCON and Black Stars couldn’t. It is all because of the bad governance we have been subjected to for the past eight years.”

“But democracy has allowed us to change government every four years. So, we have another opportunity on December 7 to change this government. Let’s do that peacefully,” he stated.

I was the one to defeat Kufuor – Alan recalls 1996 contest

The leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has revealed that in 1996, he had planned to challenge the ex-president, John Agyekum Kufuor for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership.

However, after recognizing the strength of his candidacy, he was urged to reconsider.

During an interview on Ezra Radio, Kyerematen explained, “I was going to contest against Kufuor and others, but when they realised that Alan Kyerematen could win the contest, they sent people to me to rescind my decision to contest.

“Appiah Menka wrote in his book that the only person who could have beaten Kufuor was Alan Kyerematen. I wouldn’t say I could have contested him and all.

He also questioned Kufuor’s recent remarks about Bawumia, saying, Even in 1996, when I was going to be selected as the candidate from the young executive forum, they came to my feet to plead with me not to contest. So, how come Kufuor is coming to talk about Bawumia now? Where does he know Bawumia from?”

Kyerematen departed from the NPP in 2024 after his attempt to gain traction in the party’s primaries fell short.

You’ve cast a shadow on your political career by endorsing Bawumia – Alan

Founder and flagbearer of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has expressed his disapproval of former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s recent endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate for the 2024 elections.

In an interview with selected journalists on Sunday, November 17, former President Kufuor urged Ghanaians to support Dr. Bawumia, citing him as the best candidate to lead the country. He further argued that, considering the current global challenges, Bawumia’s leadership could be key to revitalising Ghana’s economy.

“Considering the present global context, I genuinely believe that Ghana’s economy would witness substantial growth if Bawumia were elected as President,” Kufuor stated. “With divine guidance, he is more than capable of fulfilling this promise, and I urge you to back his candidature.”

“I have observed his remarkable economic skills during my presidency when he was an essential part of the Bank of Ghana’s team under Governor Dr Paul Acquah, helping to stabilise the national currency.”

Reacting to Mr Kufuor’s remarks, Alan Kyerematen expressed his disapproval, claiming that the former president’s endorsement compromises the impartiality expected from a statesman of Kufuor’s stature.

Speaking on Oyerepa TV on Monday, November 18, Mr Kyerematen suggested that Kufuor’s actions could tarnish his long-standing political legacy.

“Kufuor is my uncle, and I hesitate to publicly criticise him,” Kyerematen said. “However, his endorsement has cast a significant shadow over his political career. Have you noticed how his comments have sparked negative reactions and criticism from the public?”

Kyerematen went on to express his concerns over Kufuor’s involvement in active politics at this stage, warning that it could erode the respect he commands across the country.

“He has long been a respected figure in Ghana, so why would he choose to involve himself in partisan politics in this manner? His actions are regrettable, and he is venturing into dangerous territory,” he added.

Despite his familial connection to Kufuor, Kyerematen did not shy away from pointing out that the endorsement has already provoked a backlash.

He urged the former president to reconsider his stance, indicating that Kufuor “knows exactly what he is doing.”

Having split from the NPP to lead his newly-formed Movement for Change, Kyerematen has presented himself as a viable alternative to both the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming elections.

Fire incident at Atonsu Bokuro kills teenager, several properties destroyed

A tragic fire in Atonsu Bokuro, within the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region, has resulted in the death of a teenager and significant property damage.

The fire, which began around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, November 18, destroyed nine rooms and ruined several belongings.

The victim, 17-year-old Jerry, was reportedly asleep when the fire broke out.

Despite efforts from the Ghana National Fire Service to control the flames, Asokwa Municipal Fire Commander Bernard Nyemi-Tei highlighted that the team faced considerable difficulties in accessing the building during the rescue operation.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the morgue by the Ghana Police Service.

  • X bot accounts leveraging ChatGPT to spread disinformation against NDC to favour NPP – Report

X bot accounts leveraging ChatGPT to spread disinformation against NDC to favour NPP – Report

A recent report reveals that a network of 171 bot accounts on X (formerly Twitter) has been using ChatGPT-generated content to spread disinformation ahead of Ghana’s 2024 presidential elections.

The accounts, which have been active since February, consistently promote the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its presidential candidate, Mahamudu Bawumia, while disparaging the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its candidate, John Mahama, according to NewsGuard.

The bots employ popular hashtags such as #Bawumia2024, #ItIsPossible, and #NPP, and often push right-wing talking points. They also engage in negative campaigning against Mahama, with posts falsely accusing him of being a drunkard, a claim he has denied. The content produced by the bot accounts, which include AI-generated profile photos and names like “Glenn Washington” and “Patriot,” is posted at predictable intervals and is designed to amplify pro-NPP messaging.

The findings were part of a study by NewsGuard, a website that tracks misinformation. Researchers used AI tools to analyze the posts, concluding that the content was highly likely to have been generated by ChatGPT. The bots’ activities reflect the growing use of AI by political influence networks, particularly during vulnerable political periods like elections.

The research also highlights the role of X’s diminished content moderation efforts under Elon Musk’s leadership, which has made it easier for such disinformation campaigns to proliferate. Despite the findings, only two of the accounts have been suspended so far, with little immediate response from X or OpenAI, the creators of ChatGPT.

NewsGuard’s report marks this as one of the first instances of an AI-driven, partisan bot network designed to influence elections in Ghana, though the full impact of these accounts on the election’s discourse remains unclear.

“Shameful, despicable and disgraceful” – NPP condemns attacks from NDC members on ex-President Kufuor

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly criticized the recent verbal attacks directed at former President John Agyekum Kufuor by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The backlash stems from a viral video featuring Dela Edem, a member of the NDC’s National Communications Team and an aide to former President John Mahama, making unflattering comments about Kufuor.

In a statement dated November 16, NPP National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, also known as Nana B, condemned the remarks, labeling them as “appalling, disgraceful, and utterly shameful.”

“Dela Edem, who was speaking on TV XYZ, said, among other horrible things, that “President Kuffuor is evil, and that’s why he is in a wheelchair and has been cursed to remain in a wheelchair.”

“These unprovoked attacks on the revered statesman and former president are despicable, shameful, and disgraceful. Accordingly, the NPP condemns them in no uncertain terms.”

The NPP has taken issue with the NDC’s flagbearer, John Mahama, for his lack of response regarding the situation, urging him to demonstrate leadership by implementing appropriate disciplinary measures against Edem.

Additionally, they have requested that Mr Mahama publicly denounce the unacceptable remarks made by his aide and extend an apology to Mr. Kufuor.

He stating that “no politician is worth the sacrifice of your blood.”

Dr. Boako urged the youth to focus on maintaining harmony, adding that no political ambition or allegiance is worth the risk of violence or bloodshed.

NPP has totally failed to deliver on the cocoa roads – Joyce Bawah

Joyce Bawah Mogtari, the Campaign Spokesperson and Special Aide to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for failing to deliver on its promises to improve roads in Ghana’s main cocoa-producing region.

In a post on X on Wednesday, November 13, she described the roads leading to the Western Region as severely neglected, emphasizing the negative impact this has had on farmers and the cocoa trade. She noted that the poor infrastructure not only disrupts the transport of cocoa—a major export for Ghana—but also jeopardizes the livelihoods of those who depend on the industry.

Madam Bawah assured that the NDC, under John Mahama’s leadership, is committed to addressing this issue if elected, stating that prioritizing road rehabilitation would help boost the local economy and support cocoa farmers in the Western Region.

“The Cocoa Board, Cocoa Research Institute, the Produce Buying Company, and other ancillary organizations associated with cocoa growing and production are all located in the Capital City of Ghana. Even the roads leading to the region are in a terribly deplorable condition.”

She added, “So when John Mahama proposed to reconstruct and rehabilitate road infrastructure for our cocoa-growing areas, it was a very important intervention meant to improve access, infrastructure quality, and the environment around cocoa farming communities.”

“But alas our opponents won the 2016 elections, thanks to lies and propaganda, and in the last eight years, the NPP has totally failed to deliver on the cocoa roads. After all the failed promises—1D1F, one million dollars per constituency, etc.—Ghana’s cocoa-growing communities have been short-changed and have grown poorer under Akufo-Addo and Bawumia,” she stated.

Her remarks come amid growing calls for infrastructure improvements in key agricultural areas.

It’s been 8 years of unfulfilled promises from NPP, pick Mahama – Joyce Bawah

Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Campaign Spokesperson for the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for failing to deliver on its promises over the past eight years.

She is therefore urging Ghanaians to support Mahama in the upcoming election as a solution-oriented leader committed to the people.

In a post on X on Tuesday, Bawah Mogtari emphasized Mahama‘s dedication to tackling the nation’s economic challenges and improving the standard of living for all citizens.

“Dear voter, after eight years of unfulfilled promises from the NPP, we as Ghanaians surely deserve better, a leader who doesn’t just talk but delivers. And that is John Dramani Mahama. He has a track record, a visionary leader and a unifier and will work for you,” she posted.

She portrayed Mahama as a compassionate and visionary leader who has a clear plan to guide the country forward, describing him as someone deeply invested in the long-term well-being of Ghanaians.

Highlighting Mahama’s previous tenure, Bawah Mogtari pointed to his achievements in infrastructure, including improvements in education, health, roads, and public utilities, as evidence of his commitment to national progress.

With the right policies, Bawah Mogtari claimed, Mahama would stabilize the Ghanaian currency, create sustainable employment for the youth, and adeptly navigate the global economic landscape.

NDC MP accuses NPP of struggling with cohesion and discipline

South Dayi MP, Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor, has voiced concerns about what he calls growing indiscipline within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking on Joy News’ AM Show on Tuesday, November 12, Mr. Dafeamekpor suggested that the NPP’s internal issues extend beyond leadership disputes, affecting the conduct of members both publicly and within the party.

Mr. Dafeamekpor noted that indiscipline in the NPP has become more noticeable as the country approaches the 2024 general elections.

He cautioned that the NPP’s failure to resolve its internal problems could weaken its standing among voters, possibly giving the opposition an advantage in the coming elections.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmaker further criticized the NPP’s apparent struggle to maintain unity and discipline.

He observed that such internal discord was preventing the party from presenting a united front.

Mr. Dafeamekpor pointed to former Majority Leader, Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, suggesting that his leadership had contributed to the party’s inability to maintain order.

Additionally, Dafeamekpor highlighted the absence of Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo from the NPP caucus, noting she had missed six months of parliamentary sessions.

He argued that her prolonged absence from Parliament and inability to carry out her ministerial duties warranted her seat being declared vacant.

The MP also criticized Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame, claiming he lacked a proper understanding of parliamentary processes.

He noted that Speaker Alban Bagbin had significantly impacted the balance of power in Parliament, especially after reading a letter from independent MP for Fomena, who announced his decision to align with the NPP.

Mr. Dafeamekpor warned that if the NPP does not tackle these entrenched issues, it risks alienating voters and potentially giving the opposition an upper hand in the upcoming elections.

Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II denies endorsing NPP; dares Asiedu Nketiah to present proof

President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, has refuted claims made by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing him of engaging in partisan politics.

Speaking during a campaign visit to Odumase in the Asante Akim Central Constituency, Asiedu Nketiah alleged that Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II had compromised his neutral stance by supposedly supporting the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Asiedu Nketiah further suggested that this involvement could undermine Nana Gyebi’s ability to mediate in the ongoing parliamentary deadlock, potentially damaging the credibility of the National House of Chiefs and affecting Ghana’s democratic integrity.

In response, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II dismissed the accusations, stating that if Nketiah has any proof of political bias on his part, he is free to pursue legal action.

“It’s never true. If it is true, he can go to court. He can go and report. The Supreme Court has come up with guidelines for Nananom, so if the president of the National House of Chiefs is seen wearing a particular party’s paraphernalia or campaigning for a particular party, he can take me to the police or to court.

“Ask him where he saw me engaging in all those activities, where he saw me wearing the active paraphernalia. Every average Ghanaian now holds a cell phone, so when you see those things, click, you take the picture and show it to the whole world,” Ogyeahoho Gyebi II.

Reiterating his vision for the country’s future, Bawumia expressed his readiness to further leverage digital tools and innovation to advance sectors such as education, healthcare, and finance, ensuring sustainable growth and improved livelihoods for all Ghanaians.

He emphasized that his administration would continue to focus on digitalisation and innovation as critical components of Ghana’s development strategy, positioning the nation as a competitive force on the global stage.

Napo needs to be coached on how to speak in public – Joyce Bawah

Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, has criticized Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 election, for his recent comments directed at Ghanaian Muslims.

Dr. Prempeh, during a campaign tour in northern Ghana, reportedly urged Muslim communities not to vote for John Mahama, suggesting that it was against Islamic principles to support a non-Muslim candidate.

Mogtari described these remarks as “unguarded,” cautioning that political discourse should be conducted without religious, ethnic, or tribal undertones that risk undermining social cohesion.

Addressing the media on the first day of Mahama’s tour in the Central Region, she said, “Let me say something about the NPP’s running mate. I think he is a loose talker, I think he needs some coaching, and I think he needs to grow up a little bit more. I also think he needs to appreciate the sensibilities of our society.”

Mogtari expressed concern over what she sees as Dr. Prempeh’s “enormous arrogance and ignorance” since being nominated, adding, “I shudder to think what else he is going to be saying next.” She also questioned Dr. Prempeh’s suitability for high office, suggesting that his selection may have lacked thorough vetting.

“It is obvious that he has nothing to offer the NPP,” she said, stressing the importance of properly vetting candidates for significant public roles. “Since he was nominated, from the very first day, all the missteps largely tell us that he is not ready for high office,” Mogtari concluded.

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has extended heartfelt gratitude to Ghanaian bondholders, citizens, and other stakeholders for their sacrifices in supporting the government’s Domestic Debt Exchange Program (DDEP).

Speaking at the Ghana CEO Presidential Gala at the Movenpick Hotel on Thursday, November 7, Dr. Bawumia commended the business community and bondholders for their pivotal role in advancing the country’s economic recovery.

“I would like to take this opportunity to show gratitude to the Ghanaian people, especially the business community and the bondholders, for the sacrifices you all made in supporting government’s efforts to restructure our debts and safeguard the economy,” he remarked.

Dr. Bawumia highlighted the impact of the debt restructuring initiative, which he said has helped stabilize Ghana’s economy amid significant challenges. He shared an optimistic outlook, noting that the restructuring efforts are laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth.

“The good news is that Ghana’s economy is on the path to recovery,” he added, underscoring the importance of collective action in building resilience.

The NPP flagbearer expressed confidence in the nation’s economic future, noting that continued cooperation among sectors would ensure Ghana emerges stronger and more resilient. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has assured Ghanaians of his dedication to fostering business development, affirming that “Bawumia means business.”

Speaking at the Ghana CEO Presidential Gala at the Movenpick Hotel on Thursday, 7 November, Bawumia highlighted his commitment to building a thriving economy driven by resilient businesses.

Bawumia emphasized that successful national economies are built on strong business foundations, which are essential for job creation, innovation, and sustainable development. He pointed out that a robust business environment is crucial for addressing Ghana’s economic challenges and achieving lasting prosperity.

“Ladies and gentlemen, as you may all be aware, Bawumia means business! From being a banker to Vice President to Presidential candidate of the NPP, my commitment to business development has been consistent,” he said.

“The reason is simple. When businesses do well, the economy does well, and vice versa. Show me a buoyant national economy in any part of the world, and I’ll show you strong and resilient businesses behind it,” Bawumia added.

The NPP flagbearer also outlined the steps his administration has taken to support businesses, including policies aimed at boosting entrepreneurship, expanding access to credit, and advancing digitalisation. These efforts, he noted, are intended to bolster the resilience and competitiveness of Ghanaian businesses.

He closed his remarks by pledging that, if elected president, he would continue prioritizing business growth to ensure Ghana’s private sector remains dynamic, innovative, and competitive on the global stage.

We will use photography to drive NPP’s election success – Twinsdontbeg

Ghanaian photographers, Twinsdontbeg, have committed to using their photography talents to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections.

They expressed this intention during an appearance on The Career Trail program on JoyPrime.

The duo shared that their political interest began at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) when they backed Henry Nana Boakye, the current NPP Organizer, during his Student Representative Council (SRC) presidential campaign.

Although he didn’t win the election, Twinsdontbeg stayed engaged in politics and other campus activities, building a network with individuals who have since risen in Ghana’s political landscape.

Among their connections is Fatimatu Abubakar, now the Deputy Minister for Information, who introduced them to Second Lady Samira Bawumia, eventually making them her official photographers.

“Our commitment to entertainment, fashion, politics, showbiz, end us where we are today. We met Fati Abubakar at the university, and after we started photography after university, she was part of the national politics at that time. She is the one that introduced us to H.E. Samira Bawumia,” she elaborated.

They mentioned that the communication team of Kenya’s First Lady, Mama Rachel Ruto, drew inspiration from Samira Bawumia’s social media strategy and visuals, which played a role in their election success.

“When the Kenyan First Lady, they won the elections, Mama Ruto. Her communication team were directed to use Samira Bawumia’s social media and images as a way to also promote her. So we were in Nairobi for a climate conference and I was sitting with her team.

“And they didn’t know I was the one behind the images. So they were just saying that, after they won the elections, they used Samira Bawumia’s branding and images as a way to also learn and use it for the First Lady of Kenya,” they further explained.

With confidence in their approach, they further mentioned that “We are going to use photography to win the next elections for NPP.”

Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Damongo MP, Samuel A. Jinapor, has voiced strong optimism about the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) prospects in retaining the Damongo seat in the 2024 elections, declaring the constituency a “secured” area and “world bank” for the NPP.

Addressing a large crowd of NPP supporters at a rally in the constituency on Thursday, November 7, 2024, Jinapor highlighted the transformation and development achieved under the Akufo-Addo administration, describing the area as a solid NPP stronghold. He asserted that the party’s infrastructure projects had pushed out the National Democratic Congress (NDC), ensuring the NPP’s continued dominance in both parliamentary and political elections in Damongo.

“I want to assure our incoming Vice President, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, that the Damongo constituency is secured. It is secured for the NPP in 2024, 2028, 2032, 2036, and will continue to be a stronghold of the NPP. We are building a party to be a firm base in this constituency,” he declared to the cheers of supporters.

Officially introducing Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the NPP’s Vice Presidential candidate, Jinapor praised his accomplishments, highlighting his role in implementing the Free SHS program and addressing Ghana’s energy challenges, describing him as a hardworking and committed leader.

Taking the stage, Dr. Opoku Prempeh underscored the historical and spiritual importance of Damongo to the NPP and Ghana’s electoral landscape, stating that a victory there would confirm NPP’s path to national success. He critiqued former President John Mahama and the NDC, claiming that Damongo saw greater progress under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration than during Mahama’s tenure, despite him being from the area.

Savannah Region Minister Saeed Muhazu Jibral also listed several development projects executed by the government in Damongo, urging constituents to reward the NPP with a decisive victory.

  • The elephant party will win 2024 elections just like its ‘sister party’ in the US – NPP

The elephant party will win 2024 elections just like its ‘sister party’ in the US – NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has extended hearty congratulations to its “sister party,” the United States Republican Party, following Donald Trump’s re-election as U.S. President.

In an official statement, the NPP praised Trump and his Vice President-elect, J.D. Vance, on their electoral victory, calling it an “emphatic endorsement” of the Republican Party’s ideals by the American people.

The NPP highlighted the peaceful and transparent nature of the U.S. elections, commending the United States for yet again demonstrating a resilient democratic process. With Ghana’s general election slated for December 7, 2024, the NPP expressed hope that Ghanaians would draw valuable lessons from the U.S. example as they approach their own democratic exercise.

As fellow members of the International Democrat Union, the NPP and the Republican Party share a center-right political orientation, symbolized by their common “elephant” logo. This shared identity, the NPP noted, is a testament to their mutual ideologies, including policies that prioritize economic growth and national security.

Emphasizing the close ties between the two parties, the NPP expressed optimism that Ghana’s “elephant party” would replicate the Republican victory in December.

The NPP statement reflected the party’s alignment with Trump and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s “bold solutions” aimed at securing national prosperity. The NPP’s message echoed a sentiment of shared resilience, asserting that “the ELEPHANT is the WINNING SYMBOL” and that victory is within reach, “by the grace of God.”

As Donald Trump declared victory at his Florida headquarters, he celebrated a “new golden age for America.” This success came after Republican wins in key swing states like Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia, with networks like CBS projecting additional victories in states including Nevada and Wisconsin.

Notably, Trump was joined at his campaign headquarters by mega-donor Elon Musk, whose support boosted morale among Republicans as the results rolled in. This narrow but significant win over Kamala Harris has brought the Republican Party back to the White House, reinforcing the NPP’s belief in the global resurgence of center-right principles.

Women will no longer be sidelined due to Affirmative Action law – Adade-Prempeh

Wife of the vice-presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alma Pokua Adade-Prempeh, has praised the newly passed Affirmative Action Law as a game-changer for women in Ghana.

At the Affirmative Action Conference in Accra, she referred to the law as a “beacon of real change” that promises to create new avenues for women in leadership, education, and entrepreneurship.

She emphasized that after years of advocacy, this law marks a pivotal moment in advancing gender equality and transforming Ghana’s social and economic landscape.

“This historic legislation is not just a victory for women; it’s a win for Ghana as a whole. It sets the stage for a future where every young woman, regardless of her background, has the tools and confidence to fulfill her dreams,” Adade-Prempeh said.

Alma Pokua Adade-Prempeh highlighted the importance of passing the Affirmative Action (Gender Equality) Bill on Pan African Women’s Day, calling it a strong symbol of Ghana’s commitment to inclusive growth.

She explained that the law enforces gender balance in government, setting a target of 50% female representation by 2030, while also challenging the private sector to achieve at least 30% female representation by 2026.

Adade-Prempeh emphasized that the law is more than a symbolic gesture; it serves as a vital framework to drive real change and empower women across the country.

“Address the socio-cultural, political, and economic imbalances that have marginalized women in Ghana for too long,” she added.

Adade-Prempeh, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, shared her perspective on the law’s potential to drive economic empowerment, stating, “Women have the potential to transform Ghana’s economy,” she asserted.

“By empowering them with financial resources, training, and mentorship, we are creating a generation of entrepreneurs who can lift themselves and their communities out of poverty. When women succeed, entire communities benefit.”

She outlined the key areas the law aims to influence: improving access to quality education, promoting entrepreneurship, and increasing female representation in leadership.

According to her, the objective is clear creating a Ghana where young women are not only participants but leaders across all sectors.

“Representation matters,” she insisted. “When young women see women in leadership roles, they understand that they, too, can aspire to lead, to innovate, and to break barriers. For generations, women have been told what they cannot do. Today, we must turn that narrative around.”

Adade-Prempeh also emphasized the need for continuous vigilance in enforcing the law.

She urged the government, private sector, and civil society to collaborate in upholding its commitments.

“Passing the law is a bold step, but real change depends on action at every level. It is our collective responsibility to create an environment where young women are not just welcomed but are encouraged and supported.”

“Let us make the Affirmative Action Bill a pathway toward a more just and equitable Ghana. To the young women here, I say: Believe in your potential. To the policymakers, educators, and leaders, I say: Continue to push for inclusivity and equality,” she added.

The event, which drew key advocates and government officials, showcased a renewed commitment to advancing gender equality in Ghana.

The Affirmative Action Law is expected to serve as a model for the region, establishing Ghana as a leader in promoting gender-balanced leadership and economic opportunities.

  • Mahama is the next President of Ghana – Joyce Bawah boldly declares

Mahama is the next President of Ghana – Joyce Bawah boldly declares

Campaign Spokesperson and Special Aide to National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has responded sharply to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) claims about Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s potential victory in the upcoming December elections.

Addressing statements made by First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Joseph Osei Owusu, who asserted that polls show Bawumia leading, Bawah urged the NPP to “tickle yourself and laugh,” suggesting their confidence may be misplaced.

In a post on X on Monday, November 4, Bawah declared that John Dramani Mahama is set to win the election, emphasizing that the NPP’s assertions reflect a disconnect with the realities facing Ghanaians.

“The NPP’s strategy in this election seems to be ‘tickle yourself and laugh.’ If not, why would their party’s leading figures be on a deliberate self-serving run across the country, spreading inaccurate and fake research outcomes to tickle themselves and their followers?” she questioned.

She noted that the sentiments of the electorate do not align with claims of Bawumia’s popularity and suggested that the NPP’s self-assuredness might lead them to a surprising outcome on election day, with them “laughing at the wrong side of their mouth.”

“Here are the facts, and they shall remain so: Bawumia has trailed Mahama in every credible research study since 2022, including the two by the NIB. The NDC also leads the NPP by a meaningful number of seats in Parliament. In fact, according to the NPP’s own research findings, seats like Atwima Mponua, Offinso North, and Dome are difficult for the NPP to win,” she posted, underscoring her confidence in the NDC’s standing in the upcoming elections.

Bawah highlighted the importance of listening to the voices of Ghanaians, who she believes are increasingly disillusioned with the current administration and its policies, and expressed her belief that Mahama’s path to the presidency is secure.

  • We’ll ignore NDC’s insults, we’re focused on winning December polls – Bawumia

We’ll ignore NDC’s insults, we’re focused on winning December polls – Bawumia

New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, affirmed that his campaign will remain focused and undeterred despite what he described as “insults” from the opposition, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He emphasised that his team’s approach is rooted in the NPP’s track record in government, aiming to secure voter confidence based on performance.

During a visit to the Tano North constituency on Saturday, November 2, Dr. Bawumia, accompanied by his trusted aide and spokesperson Dr. Gideon Boako, engaged with residents of Duayaw Nkwanta, concluding a two-day campaign tour in the Ahafo Region.

The campaign then extended to Dormaa, Dr. Boako’s hometown, where he is campaigning to succeed Freda Prempeh as Member of Parliament.

There, Dr. Bawumia expressed optimism about the NPP’s chances in the upcoming December 7 elections, encouraging strong support for the party across the region.

“The NDC sensing that they’re losing the election have resorted to insults; they have been insulting us. I believe you have heard some of the insults. We will not pay attention to them; we are confident of winning the elections. We will win the elections because of our good work.

“We’re focused on embarking on developmental projects for all communities; we have developed the country. I know your concern is the road; the road from Tepa to Duayaw Nkwanta is bad. I want you to commit all the roads in my hands. I will fix the roads when I become President. I will also construct a district hospital at Dormaa.”

Dr. Gideon Boako, the parliamentary candidate for Tano North, assured Dr. Bawumia that the Tano North constituency is set to make a historic impact in the 2024 elections.

“Whatever the NDC will do, even if they eat bags of salt, I will win the seat; nothing will change, because I know you have accepted me and I also love you. We will continue to serve. I will continue the good work of my predecessors, and we plead for your support. I’m pleading with you to vote massively for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.”

‘Bawumia for Jobs’ scheduled for November 3

New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is set to engage Ghana’s youth on Sunday, November 3, 2024, according to a statement from his campaign team.

This event, titled “Bawumia for Jobs,” will provide a platform for Dr. Bawumia to present his plans for job creation aimed at the youth across Ghana.

The engagement will be broadcast nationwide with live audiences across all 16 regions, offering young people the opportunity to hear and discuss Dr. Bawumia’s vision directly.

“At the centre of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s policy propositions for the next chapter of Ghana’s development is job creation, and the details will be outlined to the good people of Ghana at the event.

“This event will be carried live on all major media houses and social media platforms,” the statement added.

Don’t accept salt, maggi in exchange for votes from NPP – Joyce Bawah

The Campaign Spokesperson and Special Aide to John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has urged voters not to accept material items such as salt and Maggi cubes from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in exchange for their votes.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, October 29, Mogtari alleged that the NPP is attempting to influence rural voters with these gestures ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Mogtari criticized the NPP’s approach, stating that the ruling party is avoiding discussions about the economic challenges it has brought upon the country.

She argued that, instead of addressing critical issues facing the people, the NPP is focusing on short-term inducements to garner support from vulnerable rural populations.

“Dear voter, we are currently working in Ghana’s most rural constituencies, where most of you have probably never visited. In these communities, the former whizkid Bawumia and his corrupt aficionados are no longer preaching economics or offering real bold solutions to our hardships and poverty. Yes, poverty here is real, along with a lack of infrastructure and even basic health facilities, and yet they are offering little innocuous inducements—salt, pepper, kerosene, Maggi cubes, etc.—in return for votes,” she posted.

In her post, she urged rural voters to recognize these gestures as superficial attempts to win their support without genuine intentions to address their needs. She emphasized that these material gifts do not reflect the broader struggles many Ghanaians are facing due to the current economic situation.

Mr. Mahama’s aide concluded by encouraging rural voters not to allow themselves to be misled or influenced by temporary gifts, urging them to consider the hardships they have endured over the past years when casting their votes.

  • Akua Donkor was fearless, an inspiration to all – NPP

Akua Donkor was fearless, an inspiration to all – NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed its profound sadness over the passing of Madam Akua Donkor, the trailblazing Founder and Presidential Candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP).

Her unexpected demise, which reportedly resulted from surgical complications, occurred on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Ridge Hospital in Accra, just weeks before the nation’s general elections.

“Akua Donkor was a fearless figure in Ghanaian politics,” the NPP said in its statement. “Her life should serve as an inspiration to all Ghanaians, reminding us that regardless of gender, educational status, age, class, or religion, each of us can make impactful contributions to the development of mother Ghana.”

The NPP extended its heartfelt condolences to her family, supporters, and the people of Afigya Kwabre, where Madam Donkor was a cherished figure. “We take solace in her legacy of fearless activism and dedication to our country. We extend the NPP’s deepest condolences to her bereaved family, members of the Ghana Freedom Party, and all Ghanaians who feel this loss.”

Madam Donkor’s journey to the political forefront was marked by unique challenges. She first announced her presidential bid as an independent candidate in 2012 but was disqualified due to eligibility concerns. Refusing to be deterred, she went on to endorse Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) in that election year.

Her political aspirations met with further setbacks in 2016 when the GFP headquarters in Kabu, Eastern Region, was destroyed by fire, temporarily halting her campaign. Yet, her determination remained unshaken, and in 2024, she renewed her commitment to contest the presidency under the GFP banner.

Her passing now leaves the Ghana Freedom Party with a significant challenge as they consider their participation in the upcoming election. The GFP has yet to announce a new candidate in light of Donkor’s death, adding an unexpected development to an already tense election season.

Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu suggests dialogue as answer to the ongoing Parliamentary impasse

Former Majority Leader and current Member of Parliament for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has urged Parliament’s leadership to initiate meaningful discussions with the Speaker to resolve the ongoing impasse that has stalled parliamentary activities.

With the December 7 general elections approaching, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu emphasised the critical need for unity and functionality within Parliament, warning that unresolved issues could adversely affect the electoral process.

He highlighted that open communication and collaboration are essential to addressing the tensions that have arisen since Speaker Alban Bagbin’s recent decision on October 17 to declare four parliamentary seats vacant, a move that led to Parliament’s indefinite adjournment and raised concerns about potential consequences if left unaddressed.

He further cautioned that an ongoing stalemate in Parliament could disrupt essential legal and procedural frameworks necessary for a smooth election cycle.

The Suame MP pointed out that the Electoral Commission still needs to present a Constitutional Instrument (CI) to Parliament, which has not yet been submitted.

He explained that this CI will define the legal framework for conducting the December 7 elections. Without it, he warned, the process would be incomplete, potentially complicating electoral procedures and jeopardizing the timeline.

Speaking to the media on Monday, October 28, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu noted, “Maybe we need to engage because elections should be held. And if elections must be held, every time that the presidential and general elections are going to be held, the Electoral Commission, for instance, will bring a CI to regulate the elections.

“What happens if they have not brought it? What happens to the conduct of elections? We need a vote on account for the next succeeding financial year, and that has not been done. I think we need to have Parliament recalled to deal with this.”

Agona West NPP Nasara Coordinator allegedly shot in campaign altercation at Nyarkrom

Agona West NPP Constituency Nasara Coordinator, Haruna Rashid, is in critical condition after being shot during a campaign confrontation in Agona Nyarkrom in the Central Region.

The incident unfolded around 9 p.m. as Rashid accompanied the convoy of Chris Arthur, the Agona West NPP parliamentary candidate. Three other individuals sustained injuries.

Police sources report that supporters of Chris Arthur and those of rival candidate Cynthia Morrison were both campaigning in the area when they crossed paths. Tensions heightened as Arthur’s convoy encountered a roadblock, allegedly set up by Morrison’s supporters.

While attempting to turn back, shots were fired, hitting Rashid in the ribs. Chris Arthur later described the encounter, recounting how they were blocked as they approached Nyarkrom Township.

“We decided to change direction, but it was too late,” he said.

Mr Arthur described how unidentified individuals first poured alcohol on their driver, causing him to lose control before two men approached and shot Rashid.

Rashid was initially rushed to the Agona Swedru Municipal Hospital and has since been transferred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

Agona West NPP Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Jibri Tanko, has condemned the violence, warning all supporters to avoid intimidation.

“We will not allow anyone to intimidate us in this election,” he stated firmly.

In addition, two supporters from Cynthia Morrison’s camp were also injured by gunfire and are receiving treatment at the Agona Nyarkrom Health Centre as investigations continue.

NPP will win the election to shame naysayers – Ofosu Nkansah

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), has expressed strong confidence in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) prospects for the upcoming general elections.

In a statement on Saturday, October 26, Ofosu Nkansah emphasized that the NPP is determined to secure victory, not only to lead the nation but also to counter skepticism within the party.

His message targeted certain NPP Members of Parliament and parliamentary candidates who have expressed doubts about the party’s chances in the elections.

“You are MP/PC and you are telling people we will not win the election. No wonder you are not showing any seriousness in campaigning. You do this and blame others for your issues. By the way, we are winning this election to shame people like you. Meanwhile, when we win such people will go lobbying for positions,” he posted.

While acknowledging concerns from some NPP members about challenges facing the party, Ofosu Nkansah dismissed them as unwarranted pessimism. He believes such doubts risk undermining the morale of the party’s supporters and campaign teams.

He called on all party members to unite and support the campaign, highlighting the NPP’s record of achievements and its vision for Ghana’s future. According to him, initiatives spearheaded by the NPP-led government, such as the NEIP’s efforts to foster innovation and support entrepreneurs, have significantly boosted the country’s economic landscape.

Mr. Ofosu Nkansah stressed that these accomplishments are essential for winning public trust and will ultimately demonstrate the NPP’s capability to lead, helping the party secure victory in the upcoming elections.

NEIP Boss goes hard on doubting Thomases in NPP ahead of polls

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has chided skeptical Members of Parliament (MPs) and parliamentary candidates within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who, according to him, are not fully committed to the party’s campaign as the 2024 elections approach.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, October 26, Mr. Nkansah expressed his frustration with party representatives who appear to lack faith in the NPP’s chances of winning the election.

“You are MP/PC and you are telling people we will not win the election. No wonder, you are not showing any seriousness in campaigning. You do this and blame others for your issues,” he wrote.

Mr. Nkansah criticized the apparent disinterest and half-hearted efforts he has observed from some MPs and parliamentary candidates, warning that this attitude could negatively affect the party’s chances in the polls.

“BTW, we are winning this election to shame people like you. Meanwhile, when we win, such people will go lobbying for positions,” he added.

He emphasized that the outcome of the election hinges on the collective effort of all NPP members, urging them to re-evaluate their strategies and demonstrate greater enthusiasm and determination.

Expressing confidence in the party’s chances, Mr. Nkansah remains convinced that the NPP will secure victory, which he believes will serve as a lesson to those within the party who currently doubt its ability to garner the support of Ghanaians.

NPP MPs are disciplined; they know Parliament isn’t a boxing ring – NAPO

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has condemned what he termed the “unruly conduct” displayed by the Minority Caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during a parliamentary session on October 22, 2024.

Dr. Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, criticized the NDC MPs for deliberately taking over seats assigned to the Majority Caucus, with the aim of provoking a confrontation. He emphasized that Parliament is a space for intellectual discourse, not violence.

“The free-for-all fight and bloodshed they [NDC Minority] were expecting in parliament last Tuesday, we didn’t give them. We didn’t give them because we are disciplined and mature. We understand that Parliament is a place for intellectual debate, not a boxing ring. Unlike them, the NPP always prioritizes the peace and stability of this country,” Dr. Prempeh stated.

Addressing the NDC Minority’s actions, he urged them to focus on their legislative responsibilities and refrain from boasting about engaging in confrontations in Parliament, which he described as unbecoming of MPs.

Napo made these remarks during a Stakeholders Engagement on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at the Pantang Nursing and Midwifery Training College. He took the opportunity to highlight the achievements of the NPP government in the health sector, including the Agenda 111 policy and the restoration of the nursing trainee allowance, which was scrapped under the NDC. He encouraged students to maintain their trust in the NPP and Dr. Bawumia for continued progress.

Cecilia Dapaah, JFK, Dumelo, others grace burial service of East Legon accident victim today

Several politicians were caught in videos on social media sympathizing with the bereaved family of Justine Mary-Anne Enyonam Agbenu, one of the two young victims of the heartbreaking East Legon accident, who was laid to rest today.

A farewell service took place at Christ the King Catholic Church in Accra, where mourners gathered to pay their last respects and share in the grief of a community forever changed.

Among the political figures present were Parliamentary Candidate for the Ayawaso West Wougun Constituency, John Dumelo, New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, Ayawaso West Member of Parliament, Lydia Alhassan and former Minister for Sanitation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

Videos from the service reveal the profound sorrow felt by all in attendance. One poignant moment captured Justine’s remains arriving in a hearse, adorned with beautiful wreaths, including a heartfelt tribute from her mother.

Following a brief prayer led by clergy and family members, the casket was carried to the front of the hall, marking the beginning of the burial service.

The tragic accident occurred on October 12, 2024, when a Jaguar SUV, driven by 16-year-old Elrad Salifu Amoako, collided with a 4×4 Acura vehicle on Mensah Wood Street, claiming the lives of Justine and her friend Maame Dwomoh. Both girls were beloved students at Cornerstone International Academy, and their absence leaves an unfillable void in the hearts of their friends and family.

NPP MPs announce plan to recall Parliament from recess

The leader of the NPP MPs in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has announced plans to recall Parliament from its recess on Wednesday, October 23, in response to recent tensions stemming from the indefinite adjournment of the House.

In an interview with Citi FM on Tuesday, October 22, the Effutu MP expressed his dissatisfaction with Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin’s decision to adjourn parliamentary sittings indefinitely.

Afenyo-Markin suggested that this decision is part of a deliberate strategy by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to obstruct the smooth conduct of parliamentary business.

He accused the Minority caucus of intentionally trying to disrupt critical governmental functions and stall the progress of essential legislation needed to stabilize Ghana’s economy. “The actions of the Speaker are undermining Parliamentary work so that the economy will suffer,” Afenyo-Markin stated.

“God willing, tomorrow [Wednesday, October 23], the Majority will trigger the recall of Parliament and we will see what he [Bagbin] will do.”

Highlighting the urgency of resuming Parliament, he emphasized the importance of passing crucial bills and deliberating on national matters. He voiced concerns that the indefinite adjournment risks delaying vital economic interventions that the government is advocating to address current challenges.

Afenyo-Markin accused NDC MPs of employing tactics aimed at derailing the government’s plans, warning that such actions threaten to create instability and undermine efforts to boost Ghana’s economic recovery.

Despite the heated political atmosphere, he assured the public that the NPP remains committed to ensuring smooth parliamentary operations. “We will trigger a recall,” he reaffirmed, emphasizing the NPP’s resolve to counter what he described as the opposition’s disruptive tactics.

He stressed that the party will not be deterred by the NDC’s actions and will work to maintain the flow of government business, regardless of the Speaker’s adjournment.

I am purely NPP – Ofori Amponsah

Famed Highlife artist Ofori Amponsah has openly declared his backing for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He believes that the NPP’s presidential candidate represents the “future of Ghana.”

In a recent interview with TV3, Ofori Amponsah emphasised that no one person can tackle the nation’s economic challenges alone. He underscored the necessity of youth education as a significant factor driving his support for the NPP.

“Every country goes through this phase of going through financial challenges. And this is the time, Ghana is going through it. We don’t have to give up because no one particular person can fix this.

“For me, the step of educating the youth is the reason why I hold on to the NPP… I am purely NPP,” he said.

Amponsah further praised Dr. Bawumia as a visionary leader who understands the importance of digital transformation for Ghana.

“I see something different in that man (Dr. Bawumia). I see him to be the future of this nation. I see him that he will transform Ghana. There are certain times when people in places will make decisions to change the destiny of a nation.

And I believe that man sees that, in this digital age, something should be done for our country. And he sees that vision of a digital Ghana. And I believe that is a good thing,” he said.

Reflecting on the current economic situation and allegations that Dr Bawumia is ‘running away from the economy,’ Ofori Amponsah claimed that Dr Bawumia is just a’mate,’ hence he cannot influence any decisions.

“The vice presidency is something ceremonial. Unless the president is gone, you cannot be in charge. You can give advice, but that doesn’t mean the advice will be taken,” he said.

  • Cynthia Morrison set to withdraw from Agona West race – Pro-NPP activist claims

Cynthia Morrison set to withdraw from Agona West race – Pro-NPP activist claims

Cynthia Morrison, the embattled Member of Parliament for Agona West, whose seat has been declared vacant by Speaker Bagbin for contesting as an independent parliamentary hopeful in the 2024 elections is reportedly set to withdraw from the race.

This information was communicated by a Pro-NPP activist with an X user account, Gen. Buhari, who wrote, “Hon. Cynthia Morrison will soon announce her decision to withdraw from the race and endorse the party candidate”

Her seat won on the ticket of the NPP and is part of the 4 earlier declared vacant by the Speaker of Parliament.

Morrison, who won the seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2016 and 2020, decided to run independently after alleging that her party had schemed to undermine her in the internal primaries.

The plaintiffs are arguing Cynthia Morrison of not being a resident of Agona West but Agona East and therefore not eligible to contest the seat.  The plaintiffs are Emmanuel Addison, Solomon Nyarko and Harrison A. Aglago, who are all National Democratic Congress (NDC) Branch Executive in the Agona West Constituency.

The court’s order stipulates that she cannot present herself as a parliamentary candidate until the case is “fully determined.” With the 2024 election less than two months away, there are concerns that the ruling could delay the case until after the election, resulting in significant losses in campaign time for Morrison.

Three months ago, she announced her independent candidacy after losing in the NPP’s parliamentary primary, where she received 152 votes compared to Christopher Arthur’s 240.

The Supreme Court has intervened in the parliamentary vacant seat brouhaha, issuing a ruling to stay the Speaker’s decision and allowing the MPs to retain their seats until a final determination is made. The court emphasized that the Speaker’s declaration deprived the affected constituencies of representation and could disrupt government business.

Reactions to the Supreme Court’s ruling have been mixed. Legal experts have stressed the importance of adhering to court rulings to maintain order and prevent chaos. The Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) has urged Parliament to comply with the Supreme Court’s decision to avoid further instability.

Meanwhile, the NDC Caucus in Parliament has challenged the ruling, arguing that parliamentary proceedings should not be subject to judicial interference and has gone ahead to assume majority status.

  • Parliament in session, NPP caucus absent

Parliament in session, NPP caucus absent

Parliament has commenced today’s sitting following the arrival of Speaker Alban Bagbin, however, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Caucus is absent.

The leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, led the Caucus to walk out of the chamber after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MP) occupied the majority side.

Earlier, both NDC and NPP MPs occupied the Majority side, leaving the minority section completely vacant.

But later, Alexander Afenyo-Markin stated that the NPP will not provide the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) with the “lawless platform” they are seeking.

Speaking to the media while in the Chamber, Afenyo-Markin emphasized, “We will not give them that platform. We will not give them that theatre they so aggressively seek to disrupt democracy and to destroy our nation. We believe the appropriate thing is to quietly yield to them and wait upon Mr. Speaker.”

He noted that the NPP MPs would only to return the chamber upon the Speaker’s arrival, but presently, no NPP MP is in the chamber.

NPP ‘yields’ to NDC in Majority sitting arrangement

The leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has stated that the NPP will not provide the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) with the “lawless platform” they are seeking.

Speaker.”

This declaration follows a unique situation in Parliament where both NDC and NPP Members of Parliament occupied the majority side, leaving the minority section completely vacant.

In a significant move, NPP Caucus Chief Whip, Frank Annoh Dompreh, took the Majority Leader’s seat, effectively blocking the NDC Caucus leader from occupying it. In retaliation, the NDC moved the Minority Leader’s black chair to the majority side, allowing their leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, to sit alongside them.

Typically, Members of Parliament sit on brown chairs, while the leaders of both the majority and minority occupy black ones. By taking the black chair meant for the Majority Leader, Mr. Annoh Dompreh symbolically claimed the position for the NPP. However, the NDC countered this manoeuvre with their own symbolic gesture by relocating their leader’s chair.

Currently, NPP MPs are making their way out of the chamber, only to return when Speaker Bagbin enters. Meanwhile, NDC MPs are seen chanting and singing in the chamber, reflecting the heightened political tension surrounding the seating arrangement.

As the situation continues to develop, the dynamics between the NPP and NDC in Parliament remain under close scrutiny, with both parties keenly aware of the implications of their actions on the legislative process.

Parliament resumes sitting today as a power struggle unfolds between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over which party holds the majority in the House.

Presently, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament have taken seats on the majority side. Earlier, both NDC and NPP occupied the Majority side, leaving the minority section completely vacant.

However, the leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has noted that the sitting arrangement will not be fought over, allowing the NDC MPs to fully take over the Majority seats.

This follows Speaker Alban Bagbin’s declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant. But the Supreme Court has approved a stay of execution on the Speaker’s directive.

Pro-NPP activist exposed for lying party supporters at Parliament went for health walk

A Pro-NPP activist with an X user account, Gen. Buhari, has been exposed for deceiving the public on the main reason supporters of the New Patriotic Party have been spotted at Parliament.

Accra-based TV3 in a post revealed that supporters of the NPP have been bused to Parliament House in a show of support for their party as tensions rise over the leadership structure in Parliament.

In response, Gen. Buhari wrote, “They only went for a health walk.”

A comment from one of the members of the party on the grounds contradicted this assertion. A male member who engaged the press said, “We are Parliament as at now and we are here to protect NPP, Ghana and our Parliament. So that is all.”

According to reports, over ten Sprinter buses, carrying hundreds of NPP loyalists clad in party apparel, arrived at Parliament. Most of these supporters were from the constituency of NPP Caucus Chief Whip, Frank Annoh Dompreh.

The current crisis stems from Speaker Bagbin’s October 17 declaration of four vacant seats—three belonging to the NPP and one to the NDC—shifting the balance of power. With the NDC claiming 136 seats to the NPP’s 135, they declared themselves the majority, sparking confusion and contention over who holds power in the House.

Despite the Supreme Court’s ruling on October 18, which stayed Speaker Bagbin’s decision and allowed the four MPs to continue in their roles until the case is fully resolved, the NDC has refused to relinquish its claim to the majority. They argue that Parliament is independent and should not be subject to the court’s influence.

As Parliament reconvenes today, the standoff remains unresolved, with both sides jostling for control. The arrival of NPP supporters has heightened the anticipation over how this political struggle will unfold.

NPP supporters rush to Parliament ahead of Tuesday sitting

Supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have converged at Parliament House, as the tension over the leadership structure intensifies following Speaker Alban Bagbin’s recent declaration regarding vacant parliamentary seats.

Both NPP and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament have now positioned themselves on the majority side, leaving the minority side of the chamber unoccupied.

According to JoyNews reports, over ten Sprinter buses transported hundreds of eager NPP supporters, many of whom donned party-branded clothing and paraphernalia. Most of these supporters were reportedly from the constituency of NPP Caucus Chief Whip, Frank Annoh Dompreh.

The leadership crisis was triggered on October 17 when Speaker Bagbin announced that four parliamentary seats—three belonging to the NPP and one to the NDC—were vacant, thereby shifting the balance of power. With the NDC claiming 136 seats against the NPP’s 135, the opposition declared itself the majority, causing chaos in the House as both parties wrestled for control.

On October 18, the Supreme Court intervened, issuing a stay of execution on Speaker Bagbin’s ruling, allowing the four MPs to retain their seats and continue performing their parliamentary duties until the matter is fully resolved. Despite this legal ruling, the NDC remains resolute, insisting that it retains the majority, contending that Parliament is an independent institution beyond the reach of judicial interference.

This impasse has generated uncertainty within the legislative body, with legal experts offering varying interpretations. As Parliament resumes its session, attention is focused on how the situation will be resolved, particularly in light of the large turnout of NPP supporters expressing solidarity with their party leaders.

This follows Speaker Alban Bagbin’s declaration on October 17 that four parliamentary seats—three NPP and one NDC—were vacant, triggering uncertainty over which party holds the majority in Parliament.

JoyNews’ Parliamentary Correspondent, Kwaku Asante, reports that NPP Caucus Chief Whip, Frank Annoh Dompreh, took the Majority Leader’s seat, blocking the NDC Caucus leader from occupying it. In response, the NDC moved the Minority Leader’s black chair to the majority side, allowing their leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, to sit alongside them.

Despite the underlying tensions over the leadership dispute, the atmosphere in Parliament remained unexpectedly calm, with MPs from both sides seen smiling and interacting.

On October 18, the Supreme Court issued a stay of execution on Bagbin’s decision, allowing the four MPs to continue serving until a final court ruling.

Despite this court order, the NDC caucus has held onto their claim of majority status, asserting that Parliament, as an independent body, should not be interfered with by the judiciary.

Dr. Arthur Kennedy fears Supreme Court is becoming more political than legal in its rulings

Physician and political activist, Dr. Arthur Kennedy, has expressed concerns regarding the recent performance of the Supreme Court, arguing that its recent rulings have raised doubts about the court’s impartiality.

He cited several examples where he believed the court’s actions appeared politically influenced rather than strictly legal.

His comments came in the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent decision to instruct the Speaker of Parliament to halt his ruling that declared four Members of Parliament (MPs) disqualified for announcing their intention to contest as independent candidates. This intervention was prompted by an application filed by Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

Dr. Kennedy referenced past cases such as the controversies surrounding former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo, the handling of LGBTQ+ issues, and the current case involving the four MPs, expressing his worry that the court’s actions seem politically motivated in these instances.

He made these remarks during an appearance on Newsfile on Saturday, October 19.

“Because elsewhere in the world, what the judiciary says does not always go, and for Ghana’s judiciary, the Supreme Court, to continue to maintain their standing and the respect that they enjoy, they ought to be mindful of where they are in politics.

“It is strange, for example, that Domelevo’s case took as long as it took. It is strange that the LGBT case brutally truncated the law-making process that has been clearly set out and now brakes have been put on it, and all of a sudden this case, we managed to empanel a group of Supreme Courts, and within a day, a ruling has been made.

“When these things keep happening again and again, there is the perception that our judiciary is biased and too political, as Kan-Dapaah and former President Mahama did say. I fear that sooner or later, we are going to get into the realm where every new government will insist on having its own Supreme Court and its own Electoral Commission because it does not trust the previous one.”

The activist advocated for guardrails on the Supreme Court, insisting that it is too eager to involve itself in political affairs.

He also noted that its decisions always seem to favour one side.

“So my point is that as a nation, we need to make sure that we put in the guardrails. I think that this judiciary, and particularly this Supreme Court, is too eager to stick its nose in political affairs and to stick it in consistently in a manner that seems to favour one side.”

Dr Kennedy believes a comprehensive review of the judicial regime will ensure some sanity and restore public confidence.

“It is dangerous to the stability of our political quality, and I think that this underlines the need for sweeping judicial reforms,” he added.

Full text: Supreme Court temporarily overturns Speaker’s ruling on declaring 4 seats vacant

Supreme Court of Ghana, on October 18, 2024, temporarily suspended a ruling by Speaker Alban Bagbin that had declared four parliamentary seats vacant.

This decision came after an application from New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs challenged the Speaker’s ruling.

The court, led by Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, issued a stay of execution, halting the enforcement of Bagbin’s ruling until further legal proceedings take place.

The Speaker’s original decision, based on Article 97(g) and (h) of the 1992 Constitution, claimed that the MPs had vacated their seats by running as independents or for different parties in the upcoming 2024 elections.

The affected MPs were Cynthia Morrison, Kwadjo Asante, Andrew Amoako Asiamah, and Peter Kwakye Ackah. The Supreme Court’s suspension delays any immediate actions until the case is fully resolved.

We’ll repeal draconian taxes when NPP MPs boycott Parliament – NDC MP

Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East, has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will move to repeal draconian taxes, including the controversial e-levy, if New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs follow through with their plan to boycott parliamentary proceedings.

This follows an announcement by Effutu MP and leader of government business, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, on Thursday, October 17, that NPP MPs would indefinitely boycott all parliamentary activities in protest against Speaker Alban Bagbin’s ruling, which declared four parliamentary seats vacant.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show with Bernard Avle on Friday, October 18, Ayine emphasized that parliamentary business would continue as scheduled, regardless of the NPP’s participation.

“We will sit, and we have more than half the members of Parliament on our side. We will start implementing our manifesto even on Tuesday, so they [the NPP] should stay off and we will go ahead and repeal the e-levy,” Ayine declared. He also pointed out that Article 108 of the Constitution allows private members’ bills to be used to amend or repeal tax laws.

Ayine, a former Deputy Attorney General, underscored that the NDC, with its numerical advantage in the House following the Speaker’s ruling, is now the Majority party, while the NPP has become the Minority. “Majoritarian determination is by numbers and we [NDC] have more numbers than them [NPP] and it is as clear as daylight. We are the Majority and they are the Minority,” he said.

He further asserted that the Speaker’s ruling means the four affected MPs—Cynthia Mamle Morrison (Agona West), Kwadjo Asante (Suhum), Peter Kwakye-Ackah (Amenfi Central), and Andrew Amoako Asiamah (Fomena)—are no longer members of Parliament, and their seats would remain vacant.

In addition, Ayine hinted that should the president refuse to acknowledge such actions from Parliament, it could constitute “high treason,” opening the door for potential impeachment proceedings against him. “The president cannot continue to disrespect certain things, and if he refuses such things, they constitute high treason and we can begin impeachment proceedings against him,” Ayine added.

  • Bagbin’s action undermines the authority of the Supreme Court – Embattled Majority Caucus

Bagbin’s action undermines the authority of the Supreme Court – Embattled Majority Caucus

The embattled Majority caucus in Ghana’s Parliament has fiercely criticised Speaker Alban Bagbin’s decision to declare the seats of four Members of Parliament (MPs) vacant.

This ruling followed a motion filed by former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, citing constitutional requirements for MPs who wish to run as independent candidates or change party affiliations.

The MPs affected by this decision are Cynthia Morrison (Agona West), Kwadjo Asante (Suhum), Andrew Asiamah (Fomena), and Peter Kwakye Ackah (Amenfi Central).

The ruling poses a significant shift in the power dynamics within Parliament, potentially allowing the National Democratic Congress (NDC)-led Minority Caucus to gain a majority over the New Patriotic Party (NPP)-led Majority Caucus.

Currently, the NDC holds 136 seats compared to the NPP’s 135, a shift that could influence important votes and decisions as the country approaches the 2024 general elections.

In a statement released on October 17, the Majority Caucus accused Speaker Bagbin of overstepping his authority by preemptively ruling on this matter, which they argue should be determined by the Supreme Court.

They contend that this decision undermines the principle of separation of powers and infringes on the judicial responsibility of resolving such issues.

The statement described Bagbin’s ruling as a “serious violation” of parliamentary procedure and an example of judicial overreach. The Majority caucus insists that the question of whether these MPs should lose their seats should have been left to the courts rather than being addressed by the Speaker without delay.

This development has escalated political tensions within Parliament, with the Majority caucus indicating its plans to contest the ruling through legal means while also contemplating its wider implications for the legislative process.

“The Speaker’s actions constitute a clear usurpation of powers vested in the Supreme Court of Ghana under Articles 2(1) and 130 of the 1992 Constitution. These provisions explicitly empower the Supreme Court with the authority to interpret and enforce constitutional matters.

“Furthermore, the Speaker’s actions contravene Article 99(1) of the Constitution, which vests the High Court with jurisdiction to determine questions of parliamentary membership validity.

By preemptively ruling on this issue, the Speaker has egregiously undermined the separation of powers that is fundamental to our democracy.”

They expressed concerns about the Speaker’s disregard for the ongoing judicial processes.

“Disregard for Ongoing Judicial Processes: It is particularly troubling that the Speaker proceeded with this ruling despite being fully aware that the matter of the meaning and effect of Article 94(1)(g) was pending before the Supreme Court.

“The Majority Leader had filed a suit against the Speaker of Parliament and the Attorney General on October 15, 2024, seeking constitutional interpretation of the said provision, and formally notified the Speaker of this fact during the parliamentary session on October 16, 2024. Crucially, Parliament was officially served with the writ through its Legal Department on October 16, 2024, a day before the Speaker’s ruling.”

In response to the Speaker’s decision, the Majority staged a walkout and has vowed to boycott Parliament until the matter is decided by the Supreme Court.

Here is the full statement by the Majority:

  • NPP MPs vow to absent themselves from Parliament after losing Majority

NPP MPs vow to absent themselves from Parliament after losing Majority

NPP Members of Parliament have vowed to boycott parliamentary proceedings following a ruling by Speaker Alban Bagbin, which resulted in the loss of their parliamentary majority.

This was communicated by now Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

On Thursday, October 17, Speaker Bagbin declared vacant the seats of four MPs—Cynthia Morrison (Agona West), Kojo Asante (Suhum), Andrew Asiamah (Fomena), and Peter Kwakye Ackah (Amenfi Central)—after they filed to contest as independent candidates in the upcoming December elections. This ruling, which cited Article 97(1)(g) of the 1992 Constitution, shifted the balance of power in Parliament, granting the National Democratic Congress (NDC) a slim majority with 136 seats over the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 135.

In his ruling, Speaker Bagbin explained that if Article 97(1)(g) were only applicable to a future parliament, it would be irrelevant since the MPs in question would have completed their terms. He further emphasized that the decision by former Speaker Prof. Mike Oquaye to expel the Fomena MP in a similar situation was not binding on him or any future Speaker.

With the confirmation from the notice of polls that the four MPs would be running as independent candidates, Bagbin ruled that they no longer had the right to retain their seats in the current parliament, leading to the declaration of the vacancies.

In response, Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin filed a legal challenge at the Supreme Court, contesting the Speaker’s ruling. Despite this, Minority Leader Ato Forson praised Speaker Bagbin for “standing firm” in his decision. Ato Forson now assumes the role of Majority Leader, while Afenyo-Markin moves to the Minority side.

Following the ruling, NPP MPs have vowed to abstain from attending parliamentary sessions until the matter is addressed by the Supreme Court.

  • BREAKING: Speaker declares NDC majority in historic ruling, 3 NPP seats now vacant

BREAKING: Speaker declares NDC majority in historic ruling, 3 NPP seats now vacant

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has delivered his ruling on a petition calling for the removal of four sitting Members of Parliament (MPs).

Speaker Bagbin has declared vacant the seats occupied by Cynthia Morrison (Agona West), Kojo Asante (Suhum), Andrew Asiamah (Fomena), who sided with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Peter Kwakye Ackah (Amenfi Central), who run on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2020 elections.

These individuals have filed to contest as independent candidates in the upcoming December elections.

In his ruling, Speaker Alban Bagbin, after extensive reading, emphasized that if Article 97 (1)(g) of the 1992 Constitution were meant to apply only to a future parliament, it would have been redundant, as the MPs in question would have already completed their current parliamentary term.

The Speaker further clarified that the previous instance where former Speaker Prof. Mike Oquaye expelled the Fomena MP from Parliament based on the NPP’s notification of the MP’s decision to go independent, was not binding on him or any other future Speaker.

Bagbin concluded that since the notice of polls had officially confirmed that the four MPs were contesting as independent candidates, they no longer had the right to retain their seats in the current parliament. Consequently, he declared their seats vacant.

Their removal was spearheaded by former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu, who invoked Article 97 (1)(g) of the Constitution, which mandates that MPs who contest as independent candidates must vacate their seats.

Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin responded to the matter by filing a legal challenge at the Supreme Court to prevent the Minority’s bid. Afenyo-Markin contested the Speaker’s ruling, however, Ato Forson lauded the Speaker “for standing firm.”

Ato Forson is now the Majority Leader whereas Afenyo-Markin is the Minority Leader. Presently, Andrew Asiamah ceases to be the Second Deputy Speaker in Parliament after losing the Fomena seat.

Prior to the ruling, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) held 137 seats, while the NPP had 138. With the successful motion, the NDC now has a parliamentary majority with 136 seats while the NPP has 135 seats.

Meanwhile, the NPP Members of Parliament have vowed not to step into the chamber until the matter before the Supreme Court is addressed.

2024 elections: I’m sure Ghanaians will keep NPP in power – NAPO

Running mate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has expressed confidence that Ghanaians will vote to keep the NPP in power.

Speaking to chiefs and party supporters in Anum Apapam, located in the Ayensuano constituency of the Eastern Region, Dr. Opoku Prempeh emphasised that the NPP’s achievements in areas like Free SHS, electricity stability, school construction, and the Agenda 111 initiative are key reasons why the people of Ayensuano will rally behind the party in the upcoming elections.

He further noted that the Ayensuano constituency is determined to retain the seat for the NPP and continue building on the progress already made.

“The people are resolute without a shred of doubt that the leader Ghana needs in this defining moment is Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. They are not only committed to campaigning for him, but they will also vote overwhelmingly in his favour, and through hard work, Ida Adjoa Asiedu is heading to Parliament on the NPP’s ticket.”

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known affectionately as NAPO, believes that beyond the party’s traditional strongholds, the Ayensuano constituency will play a crucial role in securing victory for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections.

Speaking to chiefs and supporters during his campaign tour in Anum Apapam, Dr. Opoku Prempeh encouraged Ghanaians to carefully compare the track records of the NPP and the opposition, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), before casting their votes on December 7.

He criticised former President John Mahama’s administration, claiming it failed to deliver any significant achievements for the country.

In contrast, he praised the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government for laying a solid foundation for Ghana’s transformation over the past seven and a half years, highlighting the NPP’s success in implementing impactful social intervention policies like Free SHS, the Capitation Grant, and the School Feeding Programme.

Also in attendance at the event was Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, who urged the community to give their full support to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, Ida Adwoa Asiedu.
