    BECE candidate stabbed to death while attempting to break up a fight

    Tragedy struck Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma District when Daniel Fosuhene, a 17-year-old BECE candidate, was fatally stabbed while intervening in a lovers’ quarrel.

    Daniel Fosuhene, a final-year student at Konkori D/A Junior High School, was resting in his room when he heard a heated argument between a couple in the same house.

    The argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation fueled by accusations of infidelity.

    The incident took place at approximately 11 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

    Madam Esther Akyaa, the mother of the deceased, recounted to Class FM’s Ashanti Regional Correspondent, Elisha Adarkwah, that her son intervened in the lovers’ quarrel to calm the situation.

    Tragically, during the altercation, the boyfriend became enraged and fatally stabbed Master Fosuhene in the chest.

    Despite efforts to save him, he was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

    The suspect has been apprehended by the police, prompting the grieving mother to appeal for a swift and thorough investigation to ensure justice for her late son.

    “I want the police to expedite their investigation so that justice can be served for my late son,” the mother of the deceased pleaded.

    A truck driver’s mate, believed to be in his thirties, has been allegedly murdered at Dobile in Wa.

    The young man was found dead with his throat slit, lying in a pool of blood.

    According to reports, the truck had returned from a trip on Sunday evening. While the driver went to rest in a guest house, the mate stayed behind to sleep under the truck.

    Tragically, he was discovered dead the next morning, his throat cut.

    Rex Antieku, reporting for Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, revealed that residents had recently held a demonstration on Saturday, protesting what they suspect to be ritual killings in the area.

    This new incident has intensified their fears, and they are now planning another protest.

    The truck, which was transporting salt, was in the area to deliver its load. The driver is currently assisting the police in their investigation.

    The deceased’s body has been sent to the Wa Regional Hospital Mortuary.

    In response to the incident, residents have threatened to strike if their concerns are not addressed promptly.

    Residents of Dumanfo, near Mamponteng in the Kwabere East Municipality of the Ashanti Region, are in fear after a suspected ritualist amputated the hand of a corpse awaiting burial.

    The funeral for the deceased, 38-year-old Clement Osei Kofi, was abruptly halted when his family discovered the missing hand in the early hours of Thursday, May 30, 2024.

    The sister of the deceased, Yaa Pomaa, told OTEC News reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng that her brother had both hands intact when they brought him home for the funeral.

    “The corpse was arranged and laid on the bed for sympathizers to pay their last respects to him, as custom demands.”

    “We fell asleep while watching the corpse only to wake in the morning and discover the bed on which we had laid our brother had been tampered with; after a thorough check of the body, we saw his left hand had been cut off,” she told the reporter.

    A 28-year-old ‘aboboyaa’ rider, Yaw Amoako, tragically lost his life while trying to defuse a conflict in Akyem Dwaso, Eastern Region.

    According to emerging accounts, Mr Amoako was with his three-month-old fiancée when he heard a disturbance outside.

    Investigating, he found a familiar face being attacked by a group.

    Mr Amoako intervened, using a belt to try and stop the assault.

    In the heat of the moment, Nana Opoku, the alleged assailant, purportedly stabbed Mr Amoako three times, resulting in his demise.

    Agya Dan from Rainbow Radio recounted the sequence of events leading to the incident on Nyankonton Mu Nsem.

    Mr Opoku had met a woman at a funeral in another town, sparking conflict with her fiancé.

    This altercation culminated in Opoku being assaulted by the woman’s fiancé and his friends.

    A week later, at another event, Opoku encountered his assailant again, leading to another altercation.

    Mr Amoako intervened to break it up, only to be fatally stabbed allegedly by Mr Opoku with assistance from another individual named Kwesi.

    Amoako’s body is now at the Kyebi Government Hospital Mortuary pending further investigation.

    Mr Opoku is in custody and facing trial, while Kwesi and other suspects remain at large.

    18-year-old student sentenced to 15 years for robbing teacher’s phone with a knife


    An 18-year-old student from Adanwomase Senior High School received a 15-year hard labor sentence from the Circuit Court in Old Tafo, Ashanti Region, after being found guilty of robbing a teacher.

    Judge Festus Nukunu imposed the sentence on Gabriel Osei Kwame for his involvement in the robbery of Matilda Boatema, a teacher at Gyaman Pensan Senior High School.

    Gabriel confessed to the robbery charge under section 149 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act (Act 29) of 1960. The incident occurred on the morning of March 4, 2024, around 7:30 am when Gabriel assaulted Matilda with a jackknife near her residence in Adanwomase, Ashanti Region.

    According to reports by myjoyonline, the SHS student robbed her of her Infinix Hot 9 smartphone valued at GH¢700, cash totaling GH¢570, as well as rice, stew, and some documents. Matilda promptly reported the robbery to the Asonomaso police.

    Upon investigation, the complainant’s bag was found abandoned in a nearby bush, although the phone and cash were missing. The police collected evidence from the scene for further inquiry.

    On March 25, 2024, Matilda identified Gabriel in the company of a friend in Adanwomaso, leading to his arrest and subsequent handover to the Asonomaso police. Initially, Gabriel denied any involvement in the robbery but later confessed to the police.

    According to the police, the accused admitted to robbing the complainant and disclosed that he sold the stolen phone at Adum PZ for GH¢250. State prosecutor, Inspector Alfred Aruk, informed the court that Gabriel was unable to assist the police in recovering the phone.

    Following the investigation, he was charged with robbery and brought before the court.

    A 24-year-old student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has met his untimely death after being stabbed by a friend in Kronum-Kwapra in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

    Lambert Frimpong was killed on August 5, 2023, over a dispute revolving around a missing T-shirt.

    The level 200 student was accused of theft regarding the missing apparel, but he vehemently denied the accusation.

    The two argued over the matter, which escalated to a physical confrontation. During the altercation, Lambert got stabbed.

    Despite swift efforts to save him, Lambert succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital. His body has now been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Morgue.

    In the aftermath of this heartbreaking incident, law enforcement authorities have embarked on a quest to apprehend the suspect, who has fled the scene and is currently evading capture.
